I just got bands and expanders in two days ago and the pain has been horrible. I can't eat much cuz my molars are sore and the expander on top keeps getting food stuck in it. Will I be used to the expander on top, or will it annoy me for 12 weeks? Also, how long till the expanders and bands stop hurting?

you will actually get use to it fairly quickly. but be warned, you will feel the same pain every time the braces are tightened. tylenol will help a bit. just try to eat easily chewable food for a few days. once your teeth loosen up a bit, they will not be so painful. I want to say mine hurt for about a week, but as it has been a few years, I cant be sure.

Your mouth will continue to be sore for 3 days to 2 weeks after the bands and expanders are in place. It depends on the situation. Eating will be normal soon after that, meanwhile eat soft foods like oatmeal, porridge, yoghurt and mashed-up fruits.
To ease the pain: take a calcium pill :) (tip)
