It is perfectly possible to be surrounded by family and friends and yet be alone.
Deep depression is a form of black that excludes everything and everyone dragging you into its deepest maws.
You can look out at the world from that vantage point and see people and places moving around you yet be totally and horribly alone.
Loneliness should never be confused with being "alone".
Loneliness is a state we allow ourselves to engender. Being "alone" creeps up uninvited to the party.
And yes the possibility of new friends and long term friendships rekindled is just amazing!

I believe that you can be truly alone even tough you are surrounded by many people... but sometime being alone is the best feeling that you could have... there are many people out there who really know what it is like to be alone and for them all i have to say is stand up and be counted....

Someone once told me that out of all the people they know, I'm the one that would make the best loner. I took that as a compliment and thanked the person.
The more I get to know people, the better I like my dog.

I spent two years in a small tent without any contact with another living thing, spending all of my time meditating. When I steped out, that is when I truly felt alone.

Mentally drifting around in cold, dark empty, space where there's noone to talk to or tries to understands you. It's only you who is left to defend yourself. Sometimes it gets too overwhelming that it feels like you are hiding behind your own shadow just to face the world.
Did I left anything out?

I have a feeling you will have to get used to that feeling as no one is going to want to be around a sad depressive loser who whines like this. Snap out of it
