I was studying French in my closet because lights were to be out & I wasn't prepared for the next days test. I am CERTAIN that I did a little praying in that closet. True story! :)

The Bible says nothing about praying in a closet. I merely says that when we personally aproach God in prayer, we do it in a way as not to make a showy display of what we are doing, as did Jesus' enemies, the Pharisees. They prayed in public to be admired by others.

Praying to God is a private matter, so it would be appropriate to to it in a private place.

I doubt a closet existed back in those days. The idea is not to stand around a bunch of people and pray to impress others. Find a place where it is just you and Him.

It does state not to pray in public. I know this for a fact. As for what you are referring to, I don't know. But the Bible also tells a story about prayer being outlawed by King Darrius, and David opening all of his windows in his upper room and praying outloud so he could be heard.

This proves two things. First, we shouldn't be against public or private prayer. Second, it is sometimes ok to break the law even though the Bible says elsewhere to obey the law. This is the principle of double effect. We are not morally bound to obey anything that we know to be against God.

It doesnt have to be in a closet nor does the Bible say that, but if that is your private place, whatever works for each person. Even in a bathroom works for me! Anywhere will work!

I lived in a closet for 6 months. I think I prayed sometimes there. It was ok.

Praying in a closet doesn't really mean "in a closest" it means "in private" alone, just you and GOD. but if you want to pray in a closet, be my guest. Don't pray to get attention from "man." Pray to honor& thank. & Request God's help, to improve your understanding of life, of others and most important, yourself...there are many things to pray for..but always say thanks to GOD when you pray. even when you don't get what you pray for

You fail to understand the purpose of this. The point was not to be a Pharisee. Jesus talked about how the Pharisees prayed extravagantly and did things very publicly to get men's attention. He said to pray privately to make the focus on God and not on getting attention.

It's great to be alone at home or in your room and pray to seek His face and His will for your life. Also, there are many other ways or places to pray like driving down the road headed to work or the grocery store, sitting at your desk at work or school. It doesn't always have to be long prayers and we don't have to always have our eyes closed. One might be at school or college and pray a silent prayer like "God, please help me to clear my mind and understand my teacher/professor". Or pray short 'breath prayers' if you don't have much time. Wherever you are God is, and He is listening.

Private is where you can be alone with the Lord. If to do so you need to go into a closet, go for it!
