There should be the basic 10 from Moses. Then there's the 7 sins v 7 virtues. So I would say for the good Christians, 24.

The sacrifices were done away with as were the laws regarding cleanliness. Jesus' death was the final sacrifice, and Jesus appeared to Paul saying that nothing He'd made is unclean. Additionally, the purposes of the law are fulfilled today by better medicine and the ability to bathe regularly and so on. The moral law still applies, since it describes God's character, which Christians are supposed to emulate.

As a Christian I acknowledge the ten commandments delivered to Moses on Mount Sinai together with the new commandment given by Jesus on the eve of His crucifixion, namely "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

Christ abolished the law, of "commandments"; the law part of plural and contrary grace and law commandments in Genesis 2: 16-vs-17, when taken together, make an oxymoron called "one proselyte" is "twofold": "more the child of hell" than a former child of hell made up of hypocrites, fools, vipers, and blind guides who sat in Moses' seat: Law Law (Mt 22 & 23).

And when such law law, where the second is like the first, is carried fwd into Mt 24, this (law law) gospel becomes the "beginning" rather than the end we're to endure unto, and notably the beginning of "sorrows", due to sow dog gone many body bags and graves needed for sons whose law law mothers and fathers sent them off to war(division) does not bring peace(unity), rather war feeds the hatred of law law folk and fuels the fire of their tongues set on fire of hell, tongues which are WMDs that notably bring "sudden destruction" of the "no escape" sort back upon "them", and notably because of what "they say", such as Peace & Safety in Law Law, as noted in 1Thess 5:3. Selah Americah.

GWB: America is a nation under law
Bible: ye are not under law, but under grace

GWB: there will be sacrifice(slaughter)
Bible: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice

GWB: I'll take my rule of law global in my 2nd coming
Bible: whether prophecies, they shall fail

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.

the fact is that there are 613 commandments. they can all be summarized into the top ten that God gave Moses. the question is do we follow those commands even if we don't acknowledge them? Jesus didn't come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.

1Then God spoke all these words: 2I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; 3you shall have no other gods before me. 4You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, 6but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. 7You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name. 8Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 10But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. 11For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it. 12Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. 13You shall not murder. 14You shall not commit adultery. 15You shall not steal. 16You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Let's see, adultery, theft, covetousness, lies, murder, taking the Lord's name in vain, all of these are rampant in Christian society.
The malls are open on sunday, show me a teen who doesn't yell at their parent so those two are out.
Uhm, I don't know about the whole idol worship, American Idol doesn't count does it? :) Uhm and no other god before me.
All in all, I'd say 10 are acknowledged. 2 are practiced on a regular basis. Maybe I'm cynical.

Jesus gave two: Love God above all others and love your neighbor as yourself.

These do, of course, neatly sum up the Ten Commandments--the first five and the second five, each laid out in one statement.

well, they always tell me that the law of moses was overturned by Jesus whenever I bring up a bunch of commandments from the OT, so according to this, they don't believe in any of them.

But then they go on to say that the 10 commandments from the law of moses still apply.

good luck pinning them down to an honest response.

maybe some day they can get together and get their story straight.
