Our cat is not friendly toward dogs (nor really any strangers), but she tolerates ones that don't bug her. (We've babysat dogs before) She's quite tempermental when it comes to anything new, including me when I first married my husband a year ago! She pee'd all over our bed a few times, just to let me know who was queen of the household! I put up with it, hoping to win her over. We have since bonded and get along great!
Anyways, we just got a new chocolate lab puppy. He's sweet and doesn't bother the cat much, but I know she's not comfortable with him in our house. It's been a week and for the past day she's confined herself to the upstairs bedroom. Unfortunately, she pee'd all over the rug and hasn't really eaten much for the past couple of days. I'm worried about her well-being...and that she will never like the new puppy! Or, it'll take too long (and too many destroyed things) for her to get there!
Thanks for your help!

I can see your cat is going to make it tough for you, but if you persevere, I am sure you will win. It would be best to limit her exposure to the dog to small bits of time and gradually increase the amount of time they are in the same vicinity. Perhaps it's a good thing she is secluding herself for a while. I wish you the best. Hang in there. I bet they will be fast pals soon. Sometimes they won't give you the satisfaction of letting you know they are friends. My present cat and dog act that way now.

I would go to www.spiritessence.com and get a bottle of Dr. Jean Hovfe's "New Beginnings". It is easy to treat your cat, you just put three to four drops on the fur between her ears three to four times a day until you see that she is coming around in her behavior.

You are dealing with an emotional problem here and that is the best way to treat it. The essence costs only $16.95 and will be mailed to you with no shippiing, handlins, tax or other charges. You will also get instructions for its use. My only quibble with Dr. Hovfe is she says to put it in water or food and I feel the cat won't get the "treatment" that way. She won't like it in her food and like most cats she probably doesn't drink enough water to float a toy boat. It is just as effective put directly on her fur. She does not have to ingest it to be treated.

That is quite a spoiled and temperamental kitty you have there. Normally I would say just to give it time and everything will work out but, in your case, everything is going to smell like urine and all the animals will be peeing all over your house. Good Luck

this is quite odd, usualy what happens (wierdly) is that the mature cat seems to almost adopt the puppy, and look after it (and visa versa in the older dog and kitten situation)
i think the answer is to give them for time, as with humans new things need getting used to. show the cat that youi accept the puppy.

Keep one in a cage and the other outside the cage and you can switch back and forth whenever you want!
