look at the similarities. from birth we are a sponge and what we absorb gets processed and builds upon our character

would a 'program' or virus inserted somewhere that is self replicating and spreads like a flu germ to those around by expulsing it out forcefully as a cough does, would that be similar?

can mental viruses and spyware (meant to keep itself alive and corrupt your thinking and processes) be removed or is it a permanent corrupted sector in our brains?

this is food for thought, and is there a "patch" for people with programming that is infected with viruses or 'doctrines' that are self destructive and deluding?

writing a lot shows awareness and inquisitiveness to understand things not as I was told it was, but as I find it. Your comments are welcome to help shape my views and understanding.

I was once a completely indoctrinated evangelical christian pentecostal, who thought only a few people would be going to heaven, so for me to have come out of that over a 10 year process since I began rejecting it and began slowly accepting more and more tennets of reality and truth, eventually I have removed the harful beliefs but kept the universally accepted parts of the faith that are found in other cultures, religions, societys and based on benefit not harm. If there is hope for me, I would like to know how to help others get away from extremism that only promotes intollerance and wars among us. I now realize just how little I really know, and how much I need to assess things for myself and as others claim, get formal education not accredited by dominionist schoos, which cannot be associated or accredited by secular school here or abroad, they do not qualify. That should have been my wake up call, but they told me satan was behind it so it made sense, resistance was proof

This idea is an area of study called memetics, which contends that ALL ideas are self-replicating viruses. It's a model that's been applied to advertising, urban legends, trends, revolutions, and yes, religions--perhaps most of all. Very interesting stuff.

I like your analogy. I think that the only cure to this virus is for people to educate themselves through reading and meditation. I also helps to have an open mind and to question the things that we have all been taught. But, unfortunately, some people are just too lazy to do that.
