Depending on where the tumor is will determine whether it can be removed or not. My mother died from one when I was 11. I remember that the doctors couldn't remove all of it due to where it was located. However this doesn't mean your friend is terminal. This is something only his doctor(s) can answer. It's hard to completely answer your question not knowing what meds. type of chemo, etc that your friend is on. However, be a good friend and I will be praying for you both.

Some Brain tumors can not be removed by surgery and only wy to treat it is by Chemotheraphy and Radiation theraphy. From what you have stated I find your friend has already rceived good amount of Chemo and Radiation it the tumor was the size of a Peo it should have shrunk by the treatment given. Has the doctor taken any further CT or MRI scan to assess the present position of the tumor ? Have belief on the Oncologist who is treating as he is the best judge on the spot. If you so wish you can have a second opinion by showing all the records to him. I feel you should continue with the treatment as suggest. Best of luck and wish your friend a speedy recovery.

Princess Diana,
There ar so many varieties of brain tumors. I dont know which one you are talking about. Few of them are inherited in the family (Astrocytoma, Meningioma). The prognosis and outcome depends on the type and grade of tumor. Some of them are slow grwoing while some are very aggressive.
