AUM is not the purest expression of God.

In purest expression God can not be defined by any word

Although AUM is the purest expression of a part of God that manifests as Universe.

The first sound that vibrates from the union of Shiva and Shakti (separate but still together....called Rati -sambhog)...is AUM

It is AUM that creates further 50 sounds, which are sanskrit alphabets...then mantras and finally gross universe

AUM has 4 stages... A is for physical universe, U is for Astral worlds ...M for Causal worlds.. and the fourth sound
which is silence is the Turiya state...beyond this universe (which is god)

AUM as mantra is the most powerful one and is capable of taking one to the highest Moksha..

Om is an important Hindu symbol which is supposed to express the true nature of Brahman, the world-soul. It is usually spoken at the beginning of a mantra and is meditated upon by devout Hindus of all schools.

Alternate Spellings: aum

I certainly don't claim to fully understand the implications of om. I do believe it is incredibly powerful, however.

Some say it is the true voice of God, others say it is the sound of the universe. Robert Monroe calls it "Hemi-Sync".
