It only costs 99 cents a pound where I live. Not expensive at all. Some of the other brands are. And you have to remember that most of what you pay for, in ALL grocery products, is advertising and packaging, and some transportation. The cost of the food is actually a very minimal part of the price. I was an accountant with Pillsbury for 7 years, so I saw the cost associated with foods.

It's because it tastes so good. Anything that is really good or makes a mess when you cook with it is expensive. They must do it on purpose to piss us off. I always buy the cheap stuff. I figure, it's all pig, and as long as it looks the same, I can't imagine it being worth the money for the more expensive kind!

because it's the skin off of some pig's ***! hahahaha
You don't really get a lot of bacon per pig....therefore it takes many to get that delicious fat to render while still providing some meat to go with it....how much would you charge for the skin/fat off of your *** by the way? hahahahaha

Corporate Greed. A cow or hog at slaughter is about 15 cents a pound.
