I'd like to give all 18 year olds the benefit of the doubt. I've certainly met many intelligent young adults who are capable of casting an educated vote. It's an appropriate age given that an 18 year old can enlist in the military.

I don't think it's a good idea to deny this right based on a few who might not be good voters. It is also a choice and if the less intelligent ones don't know their a** from a hold in the ground (as you say), perhaps they won't know how to even get to a voting place! ;)

Most 18 year olds don’t vote. Some are immature and shouldn’t vote, but that’s their call.. Most don’t vote because they know they don’t really understand the issues yet. Many only vote because they are heavily pressured by school faculty, older friends and family. Some vote because they know they have a responsibility to vote and do a good job of it. Eighteen year olds should have the right to vote they are important citizens that must have a voice in their government.

I think Christy kinda proved that it's not just 18 year olds who don't know their butts from a hole in the ground.

Many 18 year olds are mature enough to vote. Many of them are also just as informed (or uninformed) as people who are older than them. If anything, many of them will strive to be more informed because they know guys like you will think they're not ready to make that decision. Until the age for joining the military is raised, I think it's perfectly acceptable for 18 year olds to vote. After all, many of them will be voting for who will send them off to war.

Well actually the draft I think had something to do with that. I mean hell 18 yr olds were being shot down for their country yet they didnt have the right to pick the people who represent them. Now how dumb is that? Then again since the draft is no more (I can almost guarntee it will come back) then 18 yr olds should not be allowed to vote. its simple criticize my opinion but our forefathers gave me the right to it. Have a nice day.

If an 18 year old is good enough to catch a bullet in Baghdad, they are good enough to vote, fool. Besides, I would trust the uninformed vote of an 18 year old over the vote of a 40 year old glassey eyed, pistol waving, bible-beating redneck dittohead any day.

you were 18 once. Probably.

1. VERY few voters know anything about politics
2. VERY few 18 year olds vote. those that do are particularly involved usually and have a much better understanding than older people.
3. voting trends spike at peoples 18th birthday but are their lowest 19-30.

They usually vote like their parents.
They can send them off to war at 18, so they should be able
to vote.
