Prayer is certainly lower as it is for those whose mind is still demanding from god

Meditation is the staircase, which leads to spirituality..and finally to enlightenment

Every thought is a prayer. Reaching a state where you have no thoughts you get real close: Silence is golden..It is paying God respect, the highest respect is paid with silence. Unfortunately most Christians fear to do things merely because they associate them with other religions// They kinda half live by the Book, half by the Spirit, the way I see it./ I know and understand because I was there too!!

I think the silent prayer was probably supposed to be meditation: stilling the mind// and "let your Light shine on me" is like white Light meditation. Rainbow meditation, look Genesis...I know God wants to see us like a rainbow, and it has gotta be our aura!!

For me they both work.. Even just listening more then talking will help brain-balance and I cannot tell anyone what is best//I like both//I also think God will get us all there, show us, lead us to, that we need to really change our hearts, He sure got me///

Love

No. Meditation is an emptying of the mind and leaves you open to possession. The only meditation that should be done is careful consideration of what the Bible says and the kind of person God is. Talking to God through prayer can actually help the two of you to become friends.

Prayer is a form of meditation. Both are about opening yourself to an inner voice. Is it God? You have to decide.

Prayer, at least that which is spoken in the mind, is a form of meditation. You just do not have to be on your knees in a Church to do it. Meditation by just sitting or lying wherever you please is a way to relax your body and your mind, and help bring clarity to your spirit. If that does not bring you closer to God, I do not know what will.

I read a definition of meditation that said it was listening to God while prayer was talking to God. I think listening to "God" sometimes even if that is your higher self or your conscience rather than a deity is probably a good thing, in fact it's something that most people neglect.

definitely! having a prayer without a meditation is almost like a body but without a soul. most saints if you read histories of them have made meditation as a special tool for them to reach sacredness or holiness.

I think they are 2 different things.

For me, medititation is a great way to harness energy. Whereas, prayer is to speak with and to honor the Gods/desses.

There is nothing to do with God and meditation.

Only Buddhism have meditation. Inner meditation is the only path to understand the truth of nature. You see the truth, you see Buddha. Buddha didn't tell us to just pray. He wanted us to do inner meditation. He's our teacher.
