I am a tenant renting privatly and was provided with an electronic cooker with a glass hob.

The glass had a crack in it when i first moved in 4 weeks ago and now it has broken and slightly collapsed in.

I have told my landlady about this problem already so that she could provide a new one which apparently will take a while because it needs to be odered.

But in the mean time i need to cook my food and want to know if the cooker will still be safe to use and if i do use it what will the repacutions be if anything was to happen.

Your answers would help me alot.x

Definitely NOT SAFE! If your Landlady is proving awkward over this, check your situation at the Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB).
Have you a signed Tenancy Agreement and Inventory? Check them out and take them with you to CAB.
If you have the time, why not also e-mail the cooker company, or visit a local supplier, to see what sort of delivery time is truly expected, in order to let your Landlady know that you are not going to be fobbed-off by her dallying.
Good Luck.

Christina, you're a smart woman. If you stop and think about it, you know there is electricity in that appliance, right? And glass was the original insulator and for many years after.

So decide if the glass that is broken was intended as insulator, or is it just a glass knob to lift the top off???

Without seeing the item, it's hard to say, but I certainly would not take any chances if there is any chance there are wires in there.

What is a glass hob?

if theres just a hairline crack in the glass and if you go to use this hob the heat from the cooker could cause it to blow up, much the same if you've ever lit a candle with a cracked candle holder eventually it will "pop"

yes it's relatively safe, just keep water off the surface completely. the worst that could probably happen is a circuit tripping in your box and the element popping, don't worry so much about electicution or fire. Just don't put any heavy pots on it either. "over about 5 pounds"

If the crack is big/wide enough to let oil in though and you do spill some oil on it while it's glowing red, you could be in for some major problems.

Also, just to be extra safe, get on line and do a google for your hotplates maker or just go to their website and ask them about posibble toxic gases that could be released from the crack or more likelt when the element snaps.

HOPE THIS HELPED

You have two choices, DONT use it and keep yourself safe and happy, but probably put on weight due to copius amounts of takeaways consumed!
Or, use it, potentially injure yourself, sue your landlady, then buy yourself a brand new cooker!!! AND have a few beers to celebrate?!!

initially, you do not self-discipline a cat. in case you do not pick it on the counters, then you quite definately detect a thanks to maintain it off through training it. you want to apply a water bottle to squirt it, yet in common words even as the cat is easily on the counter and in common words use it really, do no longer soak the cat. that is meant to startle the cat and furnish up the action, no longer soak it in retaliation. or you would possibly want to favor to placed your glasses away so the cat received't destroy them. Cat evidence your position really and take care of it that way so both you and the cat are chuffed. A cat also will respond to a sharp and loud NO. again, the startle reflex interrupts their habit and they are going to study. You by no skill, ever hit a cat (or canines for that keep in mind). It teaches them no longer some thing diverse than to difficulty you, as you've discovered. To win shrink again your cat's affections, get some treats. sit down on the floor or on the mattress or settee or maybe with the indisputable fact that (yet have him next to you, do no longer hover over him) and feed him some treats even as petting him and talking quietly and gently to him. Get an interactive toy (like easily a kind of sticks with dangling mice or feathers on the right) and play with him. Do those topics a pair of circumstances an afternoon each day. domestic dog him each and every time you bypass through him no matter if that is in common words a speedy rub on his head or stroke down his shrink again. it is going to win shrink again his believe and his affection. to maintain his believe and affection, do no longer hit him anymore. in case you do it sufficient, he will equate you with difficulty and damage and he will by no skill believe you again. it might want to favor to no longer take lengthy for him to forgive you via very actuality this replaced suitable right into a one time prevalence, that certainly relies upon on his temperment. yet once you proceed your hurtful disciplinary habit, it positive received't take lengthy for him to augment attentive to you as some challenge to be feared, no longer loved.

You might want to use a microwave or a hot plate... I wouldn't use anything that sounds so risky.
