I am a hairdresser. The only thing that will rid the split ends is to have them trimmed off. To minimize them in the future, limit the heat and brush damage to them. Also, any chemical service you do to your hair, such as perms, colors, hilites, damage your hair. It opens up your cuticles and can cause damage. Do your self a favor. Let your hair airdry when possible. Also, when combing or brushing your hair, start at the bottom and work your way up. This will help with eliminating tangles without tearing out the hair or causing knots. Use a good conditioner and use the products you can purchase that help protect the hair from heat damage, such as Thermasilk, etc. To eliminate the frizzy appearance, you can use a mousse product put on when it is wet. Just comb it when completely wet or completely dry. If you comb it inbetween it will cause the fuzziness. There is so much to do.

My hair is stick straight with tight cuticles. So for me to do anything with my hair, I need to open the cuticles a bit (damage). I limit my perms to a couple a year. You can get perms with huge rods that will just give you body and not tight curls. Also I am at the age now where I have lots of gray coming in. I am not ready to show that much gray as I am only 42. I hilite my hair. It blends the natural in better without having to do a full head tint and mess with the outgrowth every month. My hairs is longer, but because I need to use chemical services for my styles to stay, I do trim the ends when needed to eliminate the splits.

Oooo, I hate split ends! I had that problem and last month I got the nerve to go to the salon and get them to cut a couple of inches off my length. It helped sooooo much!!!

She also told me about olive oil shampoo and conditioner. If you wash every day, it only takes a very small amount and it's kept my hair lookin good so far! :D Also, my hair is fine and wavy- the oils in the shampoo and conditioner does NOT weight down my hair or make it appear oily. Hope this helps!

Use a good moisturerizing shampoo and conditioner, right now I am using pantene, but have used good professional ones too in the past,I change up often, do a reconditioning treatment once a week, they can be purchased at Sallys Beauty Supply for .99, after each shampoo do a last rinse in cool water to seal cuticle layer down, then use a spray on leave in conditioner before styling. this seals moisture in, and protects from getting dried out from products, blow dryer, curling iron, etc. and get a regular trim about every 10 to 12 weeks to keep it healthy

The only way to fix split ends is to cut them off.

You can hide them by finding some special moisturizer/bonder treatments. They have them at the grocery, but it's better to get them at a salon.
