Like the others said, buy a nightguard from walmart/walgreens. It will be a way to prevent damage to the teeth, but you will still have the problem. Some people are type A personalities and will grind regardless of stress, etc, but some people grind because of the way their teeth fit together. Find a good dentist, not a clinic-style place, and ask them about a bite adjustment. To save you from going to a dozen places to find the right one, makes some phone calls and ask questions. That will help you narrow your search. And remember that the nightguard will need to be replaced periodically. Also, the ones from the store are cheaper but do not fit as well.

2 things you can do:
1. mouth guard. Go to your pharmacist. They have it. The fit may not be perfect but it will do.
2. Grinding is caused by stress during your day time activity. Start a strict regimen of deep breathing and yoga.
After about 6 months of Yoga, and recognizing the reasons for stress and root cause of it, your grinding will stop.
That does not mean you should stop your Yoga. Just continue because it does a lot of other good for your health too.

I think there is some kind of mouth gaurd you can wear at night so at least your teeth won't get hurt. Then eventually your teeth stop grinding together. Although I could be wrong. Try a hypnotist.

They sell "guards" that fit into your mouth, kinda like a sports gaurd, that won't stop the grinding, but it wil protect your teeth. You can find them in the dental section or pharmacy at your local department store, they run anywhere from $5.00 to $14.00. They come one to a pack, but it protects both top and bottom teeth.

My dentist recommended me just go to Walgreens or Wal-Mart and get a night guard. They are the same thing that the dentist would give you for MUCH less than they sell them for.

Get a mouthguard from a sporting goods store. Follow the directions to prepare it, and you'd get pretty much what a dentist would give you.
