Thailand is a beautiful country and I think you made a good choice by choosing that as your vacation destination. There are many places to visit in Thailand. There are many beautiful temple to see, many historic places to visit. You may need to do research on your own. However Pataya is a little bit tricky. It's got a lot I mean a lot of bars, If you drive by pataya you see lots of beautiful woman. Warning. They are not woman they are all men. Pataya is a city of transvesdike. ( not sure how you spell that word). That city is a little crazy. Be careful with your belongings....Thailands got tons of shopping. Everywhere you go there's good food... Spend some time to do the research in terms of where to visit. have a wonderful time.

Thailand is a good choice. The country is really huge, with 76 provinces, each with a characteristic of its own, something for everyone, depending on your interests.

Bangkok/Pattaya are 2 major tourist destinations in Thailand and they are 2-hours apart from one-another.
Depending on how much time you've got in hand, here's what I have for these 2 places:
Get on one of their city tours (Bangkok or Pattaya). Best way to see many places in a short time. Ancient and historical wats/temples. Elephant trekking, river rafting - quite an experience for big city folks. Night life/entertainment - very varied. The food here (Thai and seafood) to be experienced, not expensive at all. Shoppers' paradise! Branded stuff at major shopping centers and almost everywhere, the local markets for the copy ones!

Have fun :-)

The only thing you will find is hookers in Pataya.

It was born out of Vietnam war as a place for US soldiers to get combat ready - you could hardly say, to regain their rest!

Weekend markets in Bangkok are the best for shopping and the food is not bad in most places in Thailand, assuming you can handle Thai food?

Pattaya is full of whores! However, if you are interested in going somewhere with beautiful beaches... go to Phuket Island, there is Karon and Patong beach that are WONDERFUL!!!! And very very family friendly, with enough stuff that can only be done in Thailand! :) In Bangkok, DON'T skip the palaces or the Night Market!!! If you stay in the Marriott in Bangkok, the Night Market is less than 5 blocks...

Hello,I am going to Thailand for the Full Moon celebration in Bangkok on Nov 5th,the celebration of lights,it is really an experience to behold. I will be in Bangkok a week and Pattaya a week. This is my second trip to Thailand.First trip I brought to much stuff, wasted money on a cell phone I bought in states to use in Thailand,it was supposed to be unblocked but no one could help me get it to work and I went to the major shopping complex with all the cell shops on the 4th floor,I hardly use my cell phone in states do you really need one?
Thailand is the land of smiles and there are endless adventures to experience. Best advice hook up with someone who knows the lingo,or someone who knows how to get around. I don't pretend to be an expert but I will say this,I've been all over the world and my best vacation hands down without a doubt was my trip to Thailand. Temples, wildlife parks, food, nightlife, all kinds of entertainment. The weather is hot but that's what I like, beautiful beaches, snorkeling, scuba diving, water parks, I'm going to Oasis Sea World(to swim with the dolphins) as one of my day trips while in Pattaya,(they even have a hard rock cafe)for me a trip to Thailand is a trip to paradise(I live in the freezing cold of New England, and I don't ski or snowmobile,it really sucks in winter)yes I'll be glad when I can get out of here!
Wow,now I can't wait to get back,30 days to go and I'll be sailing in for Halloween my best trick or treat ever! Please be respectful of Thai people and they're customs, your a guest in they're country, be polite and generous and you will be treated like king.

thailand is a great place for tourists. thais will really take goo care of their tourists. very organized. but don't expect all thais to speak complete english esp when buying things from sidewalks and markets. learn how to haggle. start from the half of the price offered to you.

when touring around, start from the important places for the locals, the royal grand palace and the emerald temples. or visit the old ruins of the temples of ayutthaya.
