Well it depends on what you want it for, where you are located and how much you want to spend. Are you looking for a prospective racer for the upper levels of the sport (and do you have the funds to spend on a six figure yearling)? Go to Kentucky or Harisburg,PA for the yearling sales. Do you want a horse to race at your local track for shits and giggles? You're better off finding a current runner to claim or bringing in a horse from a similar circuit. Are you looking to purchase a retired racer to retrain for pleasure driving or riding? The best place for those is through an adoption group in your area, a local stock sale or to find a knowledgeable trainer who can point you towards horses looking for a good retirement.
