Oh I know how, but strongly adivse against it, it is very damaging to the hair because u have to use a strong bleach with a high level of peroxide. if u do get it to the blonde u like, which is difficult, it has to go thru so many levels of color to reach blonde, some dark hair is hard to get out of the orange stage, then u will have black roots showing in about two weeks, it is hard to keep up, try highlighting enhancing ur own natural color instead of changing the whole color. and most dark haired people dont look good blonde any way, try getting a wig, I have a friend who likes to do different looks so she has wigs and hair pieces instead of doing alot of coloring that damages her hair.

Actually using just a blonde over the counter dye, won't do it.
Go to a salon supply store and get a bleaching kit. You'll probably need 2 or 3. Ask the employee there to help you find everything you need. Then buy the blonde over the counter color you actually want your hair to be. After you've bleached it, then you can dye it. It will probably end up costing about $30-$40.
I've done this before on my black hair. It took a couple days, because the bleach can burn and i had to wait before applying my 2nd bleach treatment. After two treatments my hair was orange and completely fried. (there's no real way to fix burnt hair) I gave up. I just cut off all my fried hair and decided to start over and forget about being blonde. Make sure this is what you REALLY want before doing it.

There is no way.
I was a true blonde (platinum), and I dyed my hair jet black.
The only way is to go to a professional and have it bleached. Yet, even then, it will take one or two more visits to get the desired effect. The first bleaching removes MOST of the color. The hair might be a strange orange color, though, since all of the natural pigments weren't removed. The second visit will either remove the rest of the pigment, but still leave an undesired color. Finally, they will dye your hair the actual blonde color you want.
Very lengthy, traumatic for your hair, and yes, expensive. Doing it at home will leave you with orange hair, and a whole lot of explaining to do to your friends.

Maybe a good idea would be to take only the top section of your hair and leave the underneath dark?
2 boxes of bleach and one of the final hair colour for the top section and follow the instructions.
Or you could try to find a salon school, or training night where they will do it for free/cheap?
If you do it the two toned way it wont damage as much of your hair, if you like that kind of funky look.
Or try the wig/hair piece idea.

You should try bleaching you hair first, then dying it whatever color you want. I have really dark hair also and i was looking for the right shade of red. You really see the color more after you bleach it. Just be sure when your finished to use a good moisturizer.

I agree with the others. My daughter bleached her hair that way and believe me, she had to do it a couple of times to get it the color she wanted, and she was good at it and knew what she was doing. That process is extremely damaging to the hair. You have to maintain it with a high level grade of conditioning and do it quite often. She always say it's more work than she would like.

You have to go to a hairdresser and get them to bleach the color out of your hair. Then they will apply the blonde. Don't try it yourself. Putting blonde on black hair yourself using a drug store product could cause it to to turn slightly green. The undertones in both colors don't mix.

It is really hard, the first time you bleach it, your hair will end up a redish orange, you have to keep doing it and doing it, but it fries your hair. what i recomend is dye it brown, and then keep highlighting it, because going from black to blonde is hard to do, tried it and it cam out bad, thankfully i am a guy, so i just shaved my head
