I fell off a 8FT. ladder in oct. landed on my back onto cement floor. Broke tailbone. That healed. Had mri, showed no nerve damage. I have constant lower back pain and legs go numb at times. No one can find a problem. had bone scan also, showed good. I have never had any problems with my back til the fall. I have one spot that feels like something is poking my spine and moves down left leg. My doctor says its in my mind. I wish it was. He doesnt now what else to do. I have been in excellent health til this. Told him not in my head. Had second opinion, they looked at mri showed good. HELP!!!! Live in Canton, ohio and no where to go for help. Doctors were orthopedic doctors. Now scheduled a nerve test, but said it would probably show nothing. Im tired and scared. Tired of the no concern from doctors and scared that I may live with this for the rest of my life with no explanations. Any one have any ideas??

"My doctor says its in my mind." That is their standard answer when the have no idea of what is causing your pain :-(

"I have constant lower back pain and legs go numb at times"
That may indicate that something is pressing on your Sciatic Nerve ?

MRI And CT scans often dont show up any problems even though you are in pain .

Have a look around the website below , It may give you some idea's

I wish I could give you more specific answers , But Back Pain is probably one of the most problematic area's of medical science

You should get your third opinion from a Neurologist. If there is a nerve problem, that should be shown on the nerve conduction velocity test. Although MRIs are thought of as a gold standard, they are not always 100% accurate. If seeing a neurologist does not help you may seek the help of a Physiatrist at a pain management clinic. Good luck.

Get a second or third opinion from a Dr. specializing in backs, or a neurologist. You may have a pinched sciatic nerve, and that may explain numbness & tingling down your leg.
F doctors that dismiss it as in your mind.
You might try a chiropracter too, you may find some relief there. Good luck.

I agree with Perry. This sounds like you sciatic nerve is the culprit.

Talk to a doctor and talk about that directly, if you dont address it now, it will only become unbearable and you'll end up on pain killers like so many others.

I think you have a nerve that is being pinched - may not be all the time but it is being pinched...

I was checked and 5 minutes after leaving the docs office my hands went numb...

Let's assume for a second that it's not in your head - then you need to find a doctor in whom you have confidence. Go on line and ask friends for a really good orthopedic surgeon - ask doctors who they would go to - then go in and get a final opinion that you can rely upon.
