I had that problem as a teen also. There has got to be a reason as to why they won't let you out. Maybe it is the group of friends you have, maybe it is something that you did sometime ago that just sticks in your parents mind.

Talk to your parents, not yelling and screaming or whining about it, but a mature converstation with them may help both sides.

First of all you do not say how old you are, only refering to other teens your age. Second, do you have older siblings who have maybe done wrong and your folks are not wanting that to be you in the furture? Next, you don't say if you are a boy or a girl. where are you wanting to go and with whom? And I am sure if you think about it you will find that " they NEVER let me go aywhere" is probabbly not exactly true. Try some honest communication with them, unemotionally. Bring in another adult relative or friend of theirs that sees things the same way you do. Offer up the trust factor. Have your friends meet your parents and discuss your planned activities. Just "hanging out" is never a good thing. Talk to your counselor at school, to your pastor, to your grandparents. Good luck young person.

I don't know the extent of freedom your younger brother gets, but as a parent I have to defend your parents and say, if they didn't love you they probably wouldn't care what you did, and these days a young girl can't be too careful. I'm raising a thirteen year old and she feels she doesn't get enough freedom. But as a parent it's our responsibility to love and protect our children. So maybe that's the reason your parents are so strict on you. And some day when you have children of your own you'll definitely understand.

Have a serious, mature conversation with them at dinner time--no accusations, no whining or anything like that. Just simply ask them the same question you asked us.

I will tell you this though, that good parents realize that young girls are genrally more vulnerable to trouble in public and at parties etc., than boys are. Even if you don't understand it yet, please, accept it as fact until you are older.

Do as they say....you will appreciate it later. I wish my parents had been more strict.
