My boyfriend lives in the UK, and he wants to move here to the U.S.A. I don't even know where to start trying to sort this out. I know he'll need a visa and a job to move here right? How long does a visa usually take to get approved? Or is there any easier way to get him to move here? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Elizabeth

Believe me there is no easy way. I am British my husband is a US citizen. The easiest way for us was to get married (in Houston) and then get a visa for him to come live in the UK. That took a couple of months from start to finish.

Email me and I will tell you EXACTLY what you need to do, but you would have to be prepared to live in the UK. It is too hard for UK Citizens to live in the USA unless they have got mega bucks!

He can only move permanently to the USA based on employment (rather difficult unless the employment is with the UK Government or an international organization or the European Union). He can move on the basis of a diplomatic government visa as fast as he can get the visa and board a plane. (There are other viable categories, especially if he's a minister of religion or a journaliat for a major news outlet, or a magerial-level employee of a big company, etc.)

It is pretty straightforward to move to the USA as your fiancé or husband. K-1 or K-3 visas, respectively. It takes some months (variable as to country and US destination state) to accomplish. Also you have to sponsor him and show that you have the means to support him -- not so much different (but a lot slower) than the UK requirement for the same (there you have to show the size of your house or flat, and the size of your bank account and the size of your wage packet).

I have a daughter, sent to the US to work by her French employers, who is now in the process of importing her French fiancé. (He finally has his visa interview at the Embassy next month.) It's daunting, but it can be done. Be patient.

FWIW, if YOU decide to go live with him in the EU/EEA/Switzerland (outside of the UK) he is entitled to get you an "EU permit" to live there as a third-country national. Such permits are gratis, and immediate, unlike the visa if you want to live in his own EU country (the UK) which is expensive and while it can be quick it isn't always so. Quite a few couples have chosen that route -- gone to live for, say, 6 months in Ireland first because then they can go to the UK on en EU permit rather than a UK visa. (The magic words for that, in case you ever need to know, are "Surinder Singh".)

He can obtain a visitors visa fairly easy, he may stay for 3 months at a time.
To get a permanent visa, he will need a sponsor and source of income. Will cost him approx. $1000 for the paper work. Being married doesn't help any more.

Are you a US citizen? If you are, go to England, marry the bloke and then take all the paperwoirk to the embassy and get his visa. Should only take a few weeks tops. Hell, my brother applied for a fiance visa for his French girlfriend, she was here and they were married in about 6 weeks.

u.s. is the most open united states on earth even as it contains allowing legal immigrants to enter the country. u.s. enables extra legal immigrants to enter our united states than all some thing of the international locations on earth do mixed. those are in simple terms the information. yet in case you've been to pay interest the the jealous europeans or the racist messicons who both hate u.s. and human beings. you'll not in any respect understand this develop into the reality. you'll imagine that the death europeans or the racist pig messicons, neither of which let next to NO legal immigration into their international locations, were the most moral and beneficiant peoples on earth. What a ill comic tale.
