It's exactly like that, preachers know as much about evolution, as janitors know about surgery. great comparison.

Yes. And no offence to the person above me but his answer proves it. 1) key word - PHYLA - vertebrates were tiny microscopic worms in the Cambrian. Also the 'short period of geological time' is 20 million years. 2) No one says that whole cells arose by chance, typical straw-man propaganda. 3) No, many viable mechanisms have been proposed for specific cases (eg. the eye), not to mention general models, eg. Lenski et al, Nature - 2003. Evolution is proven by an absolutely overwhelming amount of scientific evidence - in the peer-reviewed scientific journals, not "websites, books" where anyone can get away with saying anything.
Why can't fundamentalist christians just have faith in what they believe, instead of attempting to harm humanity with all the pseudo-scientific propaganda against Science - yes like a janitor spreading lies about the neurosurgeon because he wants to do the brain surgery instead.

To me it's slightly humorous that people would make such claims as "that's exactly how it is" when they've never sat down to listen to a preacher much less stepped into a church. If you were to take the time and research the holes in evolutionary theory (of which there are many) there are plenty of scientific evidences to refute its claims.
And since I would probably be berated if I didn't provide some of these examples:
1. Cambrian Explosion - emergence of a huge portion of the extant phyla in relatively short period of geologic time.
2. The estimated probability for the formation of a fully operational cell by chance is 1 in 1057800 - otherwise 11 pages of 0's before the first digit. If you were to retort with "how do you know?" - examine the formation of a single protein. The body is composed of thousands of such proteins, all of which are variable in amino acid length and 3 dimensional conformation.
3. Progressive development of organs - if evolution states that organisms gradually developed adaptations, how did those adaptations become "saved" in the genetic pool if their reproductive systems were not fully functional?
These three arguments are readily accessible through a host of mediums (websites, books, etc.). Although there may be some notion of preachers as secluded religious fanatics, many of them are quite well read in the areas of science and relevant literatures that they were involved with before they became servants of God or in their course of study.
While we're on the subject, brain surgery isn't exactly comparable to the phenomenon that was creation.

No. The preacher would be doing eveyone a good service. God is outside of space and time. Scientists are out of their lane talking about religion.

No, the janitor is doing something that is possible and is real.
The preacher is spreading his delusion which, has no proof, or evidence.. and is ****NOT**** practiced outside of religion. strange coincidence huh?

No. Religionists who believe God created the world, are like Surgeons, praying for the tumor to disappear without making an incision.

I wouldn't think so evolution is a theory and is even doubted by some scientist. Evolution has many unanswered questions.

I love your question and agree totally with it. Preachers should be more concerned with the welfare of their flock and keep their tiny unopened minds to themselves.

Nope... no alike in the least... one has to do with fact and human life (brain surgery) the other (evolution) has to do with fiction and theory that can't be proved
