Haha...very good question!

Maybe because they are "true" Christians like the one on this site?

I'm not sure, I am a Christian and have wondered that myself. I guess they are trying to accomodate those that work throughout the week and Saturdays, too. That happens a lot where I live. Also, they are only open for a few hours after church and then close before any evening services might start.

Maybe they are Seventh Day Adventists and worship on the Jewish sabbath (dusk on Friday to dusk on Saturday). Another reason could be that they are being more or less coerced through some clause in the contract with their suppliers. Otherwise, you have to wonder whether the family in question really is a Christian family. Have you discussed the matter with them at all?

They might be really strict Christians from the point of view of the Sabbath is actually on a Friday and Saturday, go back to the original idea - or the owners might be Jewish. Or like a lot of people who profess the Christian faith are a bunch of Hippocrites.

Well I can find no reference to Jesus having a view on Sunday opening in the Bible.
The old bit says Six Days shalt thou labour, Six, not knock off at 2 on a Friday and come back Monday morning.
I reckon they didn't mean take one day off each week minimum, they meant only take one day off each week

The Levitical Laws passed away when the Christian Church was introduced by the Lord Jesus Christ. It is allowed to do work on Sunday and not be stoned to death like in the time of the Mosaic Law.

I saw a woman with a dog collar leaving Tesco last Sunday! But then, I'm an atheist, it's supermarkets that bother me, not vicars in them at unexpected moments.

The only business (retail) I know of that closes on Sunday is Chik-Fil-A. They were founded by Christians.
