I have been staying at my sister's house while she is out of town. She left money for me to go to her dog's veterinarian clinic to buy more W/D dog food which I did. Ever since I have been feeding it to him (only 1 cup in AM, 1 cup in PM) he has had diarrhea. I called my sister and she said that I got the right food. Also called the vet to make sure too. I don't know what to do plus this is getting really messy. Help!

If the dog has been on W/D dog food, which is a prescription dry dog food, it just may be that he has diarrhea now because his "mom" is gone. Whether he is used to you or not, dogs still miss their owner when they are away. You may want to call the vet and see if the doc has any suggestions as to what to do about this because you don't want the dog to become dehydrated. W/D dog food is prescription dog food that vets give dogs for all kinds of reasons but if he is eating and then it is just running out of him something needs to be done. Also, make sure that he has plenty of water and make sure he knows where its at and check his water intake. Good Luck

Is the dog completely vaccinated? Does the dog have his porvo shot updated? Porvo can cause the dogs insides to start melting and diarrhea until they die. It is a very painful thing to watch and also happens over the course of just a couple of days.

He could have gotten ahold of some pork or chicken. This will give diarrhea.

Contact your sister or her vet and make sure that this dog has received his porvo vaccination.

How in the international are you able to be paying for and then submit a actuality that asserts, "I dont' have the money to take my canines to the vet??" promote some thing - ebay, craigslist, use a mastercard, i do not care. Is there a chance that he got into something else in the house to eat? Make sure that he is getting plenty of water, so he doesn't get dehydrated. You may want to call the vet again just in case he needs to go in for a check up.

HE could have eaten something he shouldnt have, have a parasite, be under stress cause his mom is gone. Make sure he is eating and drinking normal. I would take a sample to the vet and have them run it just to make sure he is clear from anything if he doesn't stop. Try giving him some boiled chicken and rice as a meal replacement for a day and see what happens.

We have two dogs who are on different dog foods. When the chihuahua gets into the lab-pointer mix's dog food, he invariably gets diarrhea. So my guess is that either it is in fact different food than your sister's dog is used to, or he's getting into some other foodstuff that he shouldn't. Good luck, I know it sux when yer dog's got the runs.

He could have gotten into something that is making his stomach sick. Most vets will recommend that you not feed him for 24 hours. After 24 hours try him with chicken & rice. His diet needs to be bland for 24 hours, then try his reg. dog food. Good luck.

the dog misses his mommy, plus if you and the dog are not that well acquainted then he is nervous. keep an eye open for blood in the stools, petting him from head to end of tail makes them feel good and trusting of you, best of luck on him feeling better.
