PULSE has to do with your physical condition, such as hearing, sight and ability to simply walk. The physical stamina you would need for any position in the military would be your ability to pass the physical fitness test which is based on push-ups for upper body strength, sit-up for core and hip flexor muscles and the two mile run for cardiovascular endurence. Scouts also must be able to carry a rucksack for some distance. The pack will normally have about 35-50 pounds depending on what you carry. So alot depends on what kind of shape you are in and if you are in ok shape basic training can get you the rest of the way and your unit will work the rest.

The physical requirements depend on your age. All US Army soldiers are graded in three events. 2 minutes of push ups. 2 minutes of sit ups and a 2 mile run. They are scored differently for men and woman and for different age catigories. If you have talked to a recruiter have him go over the grading and scoring system. Coming in the Army in as good a shape as possible is the best way to do it. It will save you a lot of pain during basic and AIT. I think the army home page may have some info on physical training. Don't be fooled by goofballs in there like sharpless. He said he was a marine but he couldn't spell it in another post. Just a mixed up brit.

it depends which army now doesnt it, well the british army is alot tougher and better trained it is the equivelant of the rangers and delta force the british army, while the british sas and sbs are at the top but if you are talking about our army or the marines the american army you haveto be quite fit but nothing compared to the british army our army the american army is very undiciplined and lazy and believe me i know because i am a 2nd lieutenant in the american army. oh yes and the british are more tactically and strategically superior the only reason we are supposto be good is because we have the numbers but if britain had the numbers they would be unstopable, and i know because i was in iraq with some ordinary british soldiers i think they were royal engineers and they shown me around their base and it was far superior than any of ours and their training methods with weapons hand to hand combat and fitness were far superior and also we could not keep up on their training course and i am a marine.
