It's called "conversion" or "reparative" therapy, and there's no proof that it actually works. Indeed, it has the potential to do great harm to the patient.

Here's what the American Psychological Association thinks about conversion therapy:

"...THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the American Psychological Association opposes portrayals of lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth and adults as mentally ill due to their sexual orientation and supports the dissemination of accurate information about sexual orientation, and mental health, and appropriate interventions in order to counteract bias that is based in ignorance or unfounded beliefs about sexual orientation"
http://www.apa.org/pi/lgbc/policy/appropriate.html

"Can Therapy Change Sexual Orientation?

No. Even though most homosexuals live successful, happy lives, some homosexual or bisexual people may seek to change their sexual orientation through therapy, sometimes pressured by the influence of family members or religious groups to try and do so. The reality is that homosexuality is not an illness. It does not require treatment and is not changeable.

However, not all gay, lesbian, and bisexual people who seek assistance from a mental health professional want to change their sexual orientation. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people may seek psychological help with the coming out process or for strategies to deal with prejudice, but most go into therapy for the same reasons and life issues that bring straight people to mental health professionals.

What About So-Called "Conversion Therapies"?

Some therapists who undertake so-called conversion therapy report that they have been able to change their clients' sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual. Close scrutiny of these reports however show several factors that cast doubt on their claims. For example, many of the claims come from organizations with an ideological perspective which condemns homosexuality. Furthermore, their claims are poorly documented. For example, treatment outcome is not followed and reported overtime as would be the standard to test the validity of any mental health intervention. "

The American Psychological Association is concerned about such therapies and their potential harm to patients. In 1997, the Association's Council of Representatives passed a resolution reaffirming psychology's opposition to homophobia in treatment and spelling out a client's right to unbiased treatment and self-determination. Any person who enters into therapy to deal with issues of sexual orientation has a right to expect that such therapy would take place in a professionally neutral environment absent of any social bias."

There is no cure in Christianity

Homosexuality is a sin in the Bible. So is adultery, killing, lying, stealing, conventing - a sin is a sin is a sin.

God knows that you are going to sin and he will still love you and forgive you for any of your sins. If you keep going back to him.

What should happen is that you learn to resist the temptation be it homosexuality, adultery, stealing, lying and do the right thing.

Often individuals in the Christian religion like to isolate sins and deem one worse than the others. All sins are equal in God's eyes a homosexual, a thief, an adulterer all have equal footing before the Lord.

Where they will not have equal footing on judgment day is if they did not respond in love and respect to everyone.

Homosexuality is a temptation and according to the Bible you should resist as Jesus resisted in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The man after God's own heart was King David and he commit ed adultery and then murdered.

God bless you if you are truly struggling with this issue. God bless you if you are just aggravated that individual Christians think that you should just stop and that you are sinning.

"He who is without sin cast the first stone"

Despite Marbledog's answer below, keep in mind, that the "Father of Psychiatry", Freud himself, recognized homosexuality as a psychological/emotional disorder called "inversion". Although so-called "political correctness" has driven the psychiatric and psychological communities to denounce his original position, there are many indicators that humans still even subconsiously recognize homosexuality as a "twisting of normal desire".

Go to the nearest Healing Rooms near where you live and ask them to pray for you. They are in many major cities across the United States.

Many people have been healed of psychological, emotional and physical disorders and diseases by being prayed for at The Healing Rooms. They are people who care about others and who are very powerful in praying. And it is FREE of Charge.

The Healing Rooms are like a doctor's office. But when you go into the little rooms, two or three people will pray for you instead of a doctor examining you. Then The Great Physician, takes over and answers prayer. Many people have been healed of both major and minor illnesses such as cancer, blindness, AIDS.

Even more importantly, psychologically rooted problems can be healed through prayer as well. Psychiatry used to categorize homosexuality as a "disorder" but they no longer do due to our current "politically correct" era. However, most psychologists and psychiatrists will acknowledge that many who adopt the homosexual lifestyle do so due to some form of abuse, (often incestual), or to experiences which reshaped the normal sexual drive. This might not be so in every case but prayer can help anyone, especially if the people praying for you have a definite "pipe-line" to God which these people do.

There is another ministry called Exodus International which ministers to people struggling with homosexuality. I don't know their current website. (You will have to do your own research on that.)

Check out www.TheHealingRooms.org OR www.healingwells.org Be sure not to go to .com because that is a different group entirely who don't have the same power nor beliefs as those that Cal Pierce and his groups do. www.healingwells.org have a listing of offices across the US.

1Corinthians 6:9 Don’t you know that evil people will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who are prostitutes or who commit homosexual acts. 10 Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom. 11 Some of you used to do those things. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of that was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Verse 11 is your answer.

You have to let go of all rational thought and live a delusion. Homosexuals are not always likely to stop having sex with other members of their sex, instead they will feel guilty and try to cover it up, possibly becoming homophobic in the process.

There is none. For I have created you as you were meant to be. Why would you seek to change yourself? My word has been twisted and mistaken and so that message has been lost. But I love ALL my children equally and without exception, for am I not a compassionate God?. God loves you for knowing who you are for many have struggled and failed.

First you would want to make sure that you have surrendered your heart and life to Jesus. Talk to Him daily, read the Bible daily, get at least one good Christian friend to hold you accountable. Ask God to help you stop desiring things that are not His will for you. He will
