I know what you mean. Position, height and spacing can be critical and it's only when you've nailed it up and stood back can you tell. So ...
Go out and buy a picture rail (like a dado rail) and a packet of picture hangers that hook over the rail (at the top) and give you a small hook (at the bottom). Paint the rail whatever colour you like. Fix it across the entire wall about 8 ft high or so (Ideal height will be obvious). You can continue it all the way round the room.
Put as many picture hangars as you have pictures onto the rail, You can slide them from side to side. Using 'invisible' nylon (fishing line?), hang your pictures from the hangars and adjust to whatever position, height and spacing you wish. If you want to make a virtue/feature of the long hanging lines, bin the fishing line and go for coloured cords. You can hang anything in this way (straw hats, dried flowers, etc, etc).
This is the old fashioned way of doing it. It's so flexible and it grabs peoples' attention.

If the picture is fairly large, use a wire on the back of the picture and use two hooks in the wall about 5 to 10 inches apart (depending on the picture size). That way you don't have to have the hanger perfectly centered on the back of the frame. With a wire over two hooks you can move it a little from one side to the other to straighten it out.

This is something not to be taken lightly. Get a professional picture hanger in to do the job.
I can put one up for you at a cost of £50 each. That may sound a lot but people like me are hard to find so we can charge pretty much what we like!

use a fork ( the ones u eat with )
put the teeth of the fork on the screw..and then when you put your frame up, get the piece of string and put it over the fork handle, let it slide down until it rests on the screw and take the fork away.
