Im in nursing school and have taken nutrition and diet classes; Meat is ok for you red or white, provided that you limit your portion sizes and stick with lean cuts like boneless skinless chicken breast or round steaks and 98% lean hamburger; make sure you cook the meat to the recommended level, especially pork, ground meats and chicken/poultry. I would avoid the fatty meats such as duck, beef with obvious layers of fat and chicken or poultry skin.

As you can see by the variety of answers here, there is no definitive proof that Nature meant us to be carnivores versus vegetarian versus what most of us are...omnivores.

However, what is undeniable is that meat is not meant to be the major part of our diet. Small servings of about 3 ounces is plenty for getting the nutrition you need. And the meat needs to be high quality... lean with minimal fat. Using that criteria, even red meat is OK.

Obviously preparation is a factor influencing the healthfulness of meat, but that is true for any food group.

The human body was not designed to eat meat of any kind. A man is not a carnivore. The human gut is long, and meat actually starts to putrefy before it gets through. You can get all the nutrition you need in veggies and nuts. Beans are a great source of protein. I know meat tastes good, but it is not good for your body. All carnivores have a short digestive tract.

Yes it is. Meat is good for you. Meat is bad for you. It all boils down to profits. When money hungry producers begin messing with nature by poking unnatural foods down an animals throat, it changes the meat. If I ate much meat, I would stick with wild game, or domestic animals fed like wild game.

There is no question or ambiguity about this.Hundreds of scientific articles are proof that meat is deleterious to health.
Infact predominantly meat eating western society has high incidences of a host of fatal diseases including cancers especially of the lower gut.Switch to vegetarian diet and see for yourself the transformation in your physical and mental status.

Meat contains lipids, but it is also a source of FE and amino acids not found in vegetables. Plus, it tastes so good.
