Go to the unemployment office and take advantage of your Veteran's preference. I landed a few awesome jobs this way when I was working my way through college.

First I dont think you were ever in the Marines. My dad was a Marine and he never referred to himself as a Grunt. That is a very disrespectful word. I think a Marine Lance Corporal would have no problem getting a job. Another term I've heard that makes me cringe is Military Brat for a child who is a dependent of one of our brave men and women who serve our country. These children sacrifice as much as their parents and deserve to be treated with respect. I like Military kid myself. They are definitely not brats in fact just the opposite. Getting back to you. Marines are nice well educated and respectful men and women. From the way you worded your question you probably were never in the Marines.

I take it you were infantry? First off try civil service. For most jobs they add points to your tests for being a vet. Many Police & Fire Depts. are in need of people. You would fit in well. My first job Out the Navy was in security. I worked as airline security, pre TSA. Since they took it over, they pay rather well and are looking for new hires. I just took the test a few weeks ago. Driving & construction are also hot jobs. IF you have a CDL drivers licence, there are a ton of jobs begging. From Trucking, Greyhound, to Construction operators.

There are many jobs you can get. I have a friend who just got out of the marines too and he became a real estate agent, and took a second job as a night supervisor at a local company. He was one of the first marines in Baghdad. You have many skills that are transferable to civilian life. You need to sit with someone who can help you realize your transferable skills and put them properly on a resume.

I borrowed a bunch of money and went to college. Once you are there you can do as well as you want and do whatever you want to. There is very little free money around, but you can get student loans and maybe you have GI benefits you can use.
You can do whatever you want in college, but whatever you do you have to take it very seriously and do very well. After that you can go back in as an officer or you can do anything you want. You can study Business or Science or Engineering or Law or anything you want to.
Or you can mow lawns and sweep floors. You can do that if you like that idea better.
Information about going to college is just about everywhere. Look it up and do your best.

depends on why you got out of military, what education you have, and so on.
Police officer, prison officer, security gurad, salesperson all comes to mind where you could most likely be working at one in about 1 day and the others in a few months.
Now you will have to be willing to move to where the jobs may be.
If you are out of work, go every day to the temp labor places and work
or go back into the military, but you can go into another branch if you want, army, air force and so on

use your GI bill money and go to school!!!!!!!
(I have MBA on the GI bill, 2 sisters have Master's degrees on GI bill, spousal unit is working on his master's on GI bill, Dad got up thru PHD on GI Bill. You don't have to use it for a 4-year college degree, you can get CDL training, auto mechanics, carpentry, computer repair, any type of job training or education, hell you can even go to beautician's school. You earned it -- now use it!)
Go see the local Veteran's rep. He/she will point you in the right direction.
