the cat's stitches are gone. I called the vet and they rudely told me I'd have to pay for another surgery, well it cost too much the first time. I tried liquid bandaid, it did not work, I tried a regular bandaid and a nylon, that did not work. I want to know what could happen to her and what to do about it.

fear not all ye cat lovers. I took the cat back to the vet despite lacking funds. the tragedy of poor jezebel was enough to convince me that the vet was my only option, so I made a way where there was none. the vet said that he'd work with me too to give me a discount. thank you all for you input.

If she is not taken back to the vet. She could end up with a serous infection. With an open wound like that it is very dangerous. I know from experience.
A few years ago when I was 17 living on my own. I had Jezebel. Cutest cat in the world. I had her spayed. And like you I couldn't afford to take her back out to the vets, to have them resew her up.
It got infected really bad. And the vets office refused to work out a payment plan with me to take her back in. And It got so bad that Jezzy wasn't getting up. And I called my father who lives out of state as a last resort, and he wired me money. And by the time I got her out to the vet, it was too late. I still to this day feel extremely guilty about it. The vets office now lets me do payments because of that.
So please if you can find someone to loan you the money. Or talk to the vets office see if they can work out a deal. Or if you have a family member that you could borrow the money from.

Don't try to close the cut on your own. Usually after 6 hours of being open, there is serious risk of infection. And you will just close the infection inside.

Sorry to say, but you will probably have to get her back to the vet. Otherwise, infection could set in and you will end up with no cat left. See if you can set up payment arrangements, or try calling a different vet until you find one that will. Explain what is going on.

Good Luck!

No liscensed vet should refuse to follow up on his surgery if there is a problem and you should not be charged for it. If he gave you an e-collar and you took it off then you are responsible for the consequences. If you didn't get one then the vet is irresponsible and he should be reported.

If she is bleeding or the surgery area is gapping open then a vet needs to treat it. Is there a clinic or humane society in your area. I would call there and tell them what has happened and ask what you should do. They might agree to look at it.

she could set up an infection and die you need to do something right away . Ther are things called steri strips that hold a suture together , but I'm not sure if they sell them over the counter . Maybe a medical supply store would have them . try that first.By the way I'm a nurse so I know what I"m talking about

i would wrap it with gauze and hope for the best however you need to make a homemade elizabethan collar to put on her so that she cannot mess with it...and the vet should have only charged you to put more stitches in my cat did this as well

Use gauze and bind with a good adhesive, prefferably stretchable tape
