I purchased a car thursday and found out friday that the car was for sale 100% cheaper than what I paid. Is there a law in illinois that says u can return a vehicle w/in a certain amount of days? If so how long? What should I do about being ripped off? I haven't paid the full balance of the vehicle yet.

If you advertise a price an someone comes in isn't it the responsibility of the salesmen to give u all the facts?

take it back to them and tell them you want the sales price and if they refuse then tell them the deals off and if they give a big hassle about that then tell them your going to the better business bureau.

No, you can't return the vehicle. Ignore anyone who claims that there is a 3-day right of recission. It's a widely held urban legend but is totally false!

And 100% less would be free, so you really don't know what you're talking about!

If you signed the paperwork, you own the car. If you had walked in and demanded to buy an advertised vehicle at the advertised price, the dealer would have been legally obligated to sell you that car for that price. Most likely that is NOT the car that you actually bought, though, but a totally stripped down model.

If you didn't do your homework in advance, you alone are to blame for your perceived misfortune.

Go to the General Manager, General Sales Manager or Finance Manager of the dealership immediately and ask for a complete explaination of the transaction. Unfortunately many people do not understand the transaction because they focus you on the monthly payments not the entire sale price of the vehicle. This tactic works in favor of the dealership for the unwary car buyer.

If they are a reputable dealer ......they can continue to work the deal with you as long as the financing has not been approved. Many dealership call back clinets to re-work deals when financing is a problem.

Actually there is only one way for you to get your money back. If they delivered the car to you off of their lot then you have three 72 hours to change your mind. If you took possession at the dealership then you have no options. Just because a car is on sale is not reason enough to give you your money back. You negotiated the selling price before you took it home. Don't be angry at the dealer because you didn't do your homework.

No there is no law. Get the ad that you saw this in take it to the dealership and ask them to explain why you had to pay what you did. They should feel corned and give you the price that is listed in the sale ad. Just remember you catch more flies with honey the vinegar.

You can NOT change your mind...there is no cooling off period etc...

In all reality if YOU KNEW theprice you were paying and they did not change the price on you then there is really nothing you can do....if you saw a price somewhere else that was better it doesnt matter....if they HAD the vehicle on sale before...it doesnt matter....all that matters is that you paid what you were supposed to pay....

Usually there is a three day cooling off period. I don't know about your state. Call the better business bureau in your area.

did you trade something in? something with a payoff? and was the payoff considerably more than the worth of the car? that would explain it.
