I have a cd-rw drive on my pc and i've recently downloaded a couple of music dvd's. I want to be able to watch them on tv so i need to put them on a disc. Will my cd-rw drive do the job? If yes, will i need to use a dvd disc or will a cd-r disc do? And if it won't do it, why's that?
Whats the difference between dvd's and cd's anyway? Forgive my total computer ignorance, i bet there's loads of 16 yr old techno experts out there reading this and laughing their heads off!
By the way, am i right in thinking that you can only write data onto a cd-r once, but you can overwrite stuff on a cd-rw as often as you like? And why do some kinds of discs have a plus sign and a minus sign, eg dvd+/-rw? Someone enlighten me, Please!!!!

Yes,
Burn it as a VCD (video CD)

CD's have only 800 megs of space and
DVD's have 4.7gigs of space.

Different CD and DVD players used different CD formatts hence CD+R & CD-R.
Now days most players play either.
You are correct about CDR ,DVDR, CD r/w and DVD r/w
hope this helps?

CDs have a disc size of upto 700MB, DVDs have a disc size of up to 9GB (approx. 9216MB). An average film is about 3GB in size that why you can't fit a film onto a CD. CDR = Write Once, CD-RW = Re writable. An option you take to copy a short film onto a CDR or CDRW is change to record format to VCD (Video Compact Disc), but your DVD player will have to support this format as with your program. Your best way is to buy an internal DVD RW for your PC, it olny cost around £35, then you wont have the worry about copying to a different format or onto several discs or buy an extrnal DVDRW so you can plu and play, Insert the disc you want to copy in your CDRW and a blank disc into your external drive. Some discs have diffent endings ie +/- rw, they have no major difference between them ie. disc space but only work with players and rewriters that support that format.
I hope this helps!

We burn all our stuff to CD-RW because it is faster and less fussy.

More than likely you have a program that came with your CD burner that will do it for you ... as in transcode it from its original form (generally AVI) to a VCD (video C).
