I agree completely. I have no problems with anyone of any faith; I do have problems with people who have not seriously considered their faith. Some say that a critical look is a bad thing; I say, if your faith is strong and you believe it to be true, what harm can come of examining it from a different point of view? "The unexamined life is not worth living", said Socrates, and I say the unexamined faith is not worth having.

While Christians certainly do accept some things on faith (as every person in the world does) it is by no means a blind faith. Take for example that our universe could have begun in only two possible ways. Either Someone created it, or it made itself. While no one was there to see how it happened, the Bible tells us, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1.) By looking at the evidence, we can see that the biblical account is true. We see an orderly universe and very complex life forms which point to a Designer. Order, information and intelligence can only come about from an intelligent designer. That is a logical and scientific conclusion. We would never look at a watch, a computer or an aircraft and assume that they made themselves. And life is so much more complex! In his book, "The Blind Watchmaker", leading evolutionist Richard Dawkins admits that a single cell, the smallest living unit, contains "a digitally coded database larger…than all 30 volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica put together."[1] And the human body is made of trillions of such cells all performing different functions! Can it be anything but blind faith that would make an atheist believe that this could happen all by itself?

Abraham believed God and left his country and family to go to a land that he was led to. God told him he was to be the father of a great nation (even though he had no children). Then God waited until he was 99 before giving him a son. He didn't wait until the child was born and then have faith, he had faith that he was going to have a son because God said it.
As for me, I'm gonna believe the promises of God because God made them. If He says He's going to do something then He will. In Romans He tells the me that my flesh was crucified with Christ and is dead so I am no longer bound by it and and free from sin. You might say 'Your flesh isn't dead, I can touch it. It's right there!'. I understand, but God tells me it's dead, so I say it's dead, too.
So to answer your question, God is th basis of my faith.

True faith is one that is based on truth and proof . all that you have said is based on reports of third persons . i can also give you some story of somebody doing some miracle . But i should be prepared to prove it when somebody demands a proof .third party report by vested interests will not offere proof particularly when the report is about something abnormal. If i tell you that I can jump agaist gravity to a hundred miles into the space . it won't be sufficient if i produce somebody to say that he has seen me do it . i must do it in your presence and show you. eveybody knows that the religons came inot existence long after humanity appeared on the face of the earth and that they were made by men.at a time the humans wer no as much intelligent as they are today. even to day people believe in so many things that are unreal and false . It is no wonder that the humans of the ancient times could be duped to believe in tricks and false hood on the basis of third party witnesses. One thing every one must know is that that even the All powerful God has taken zillions of years to create one univcellular organism or one blade of grass . To say that a human a mortal being who could not survive against the nature of time had done miracles defying nature ,in a trice can not be anything but a lie.
God the creator of all the universe does not have to enter into any agreement or contract with his creation which has the might to annihilate in a trice if they couls go against his will. If God could not have a control and power to direct the mind s of his creation in the way he wants them to function, then he is powerless fake and a fraud . so to think that any mortal has done anything that even the God can no do is blind faith for it is claimed without proof and against all known and proved natual laws . such thinfgs should be provided with concrete proof . God and god men need not feel shy to proove such things to the mortals . Faith is blind , because it is held and believed without basis and without seeing the proof and truth is fact and not blind , because it can be seen and proved.
the almighty to whom we ascribe enormous miraculous power of opening the skies and raising the dead from the grave ysrd wher they have already been digested , can not find it difficult to bring back yesterday and make the sun reverse the path and make reverse our growth and reach the stage of a child . Let those who faithfully follow the path of the God and spent their life in the service of the Gods do it . When god himself can not be approached except through his most powerful agent who has confined and restrained God from giveing audience to his creations directly, why not the agents ' agents do this little miracle and proove the power of their god ?
Turh is amenable to proof and faith is not . That is why it is blind .Truth does not require any faith from anybody, for it shows itself up as a concrete fact .
Fact does not need any witness as it proves itself by its very presence .

Faith is commonly known as a belief, trust or confidence often based on a transpersonal relationship with God, a higher power, elements of nature and/or a perception of the human race as a whole. Faith can be placed in a person, inanimate object, state of affairs, proposition or body of propositions such as a religious credo. What is believed concerning God, in other words, is a matter of faith supported- but not replaced by- facts.
Some religious believers – and many of their critics – often use the term "faith" as the affirmation of belief without an ongoing test of evidence, and even despite evidence apparently to the contrary. Most Jews, Christians and Muslims admit that whatever particular evidence or reason they may possess that their God exists and is deserving of trust, is not ultimately the basis for their believing. Thus, in this sense faith refers to belief beyond evidence or logical arguments, sometimes called "implicit faith". Another form of this kind of faith is fideism: one ought to believe that God exists, but one should not base that belief on any other beliefs; one should, instead, accept it without any reasons at all. Faith in this sense, grounded simply in the sincerity of faith, belief on the basis of believing, is often associated with Søren Kierkegaard for example, and some other existentialist religious thinkers; his views are presented in Fear and Trembling. William Sloane Coffin counters that faith is not acceptance without proof, but trust without reservation.

well the bible says
live by faith and not by sight
what do you have to say about that
are you challenging the maker himself?
just because you ask for a sign or proof does not displace faith some ppl need an extra push in the right direction
you named a few who asked for proof
there are thousands upon thousands and then some who do not

Faith has to be blind. You are "BELIEVING" what you read in the Bible.
Question: If you put water in an opperating freezer. Do you believe it's going to become ice, or do you know it's going to become ice?
I am not saying you are wrong for the way you feel, but faith is blind. You have to believe to have faith.

God wants us to be like him. To be like him we must practice thinking if you will tell we think for our selves to the point we can comprehend the things of God. I don't think any leader would appreciate some of the followers I've seen saying question not it's just right because it is. If works and thought can't make us better followers there is no point to being here we might as well become part of the Borg :)

Those facts all require blind faith, you must believe that they are true when there is no conclusive evidence...
"Freed by full realization and at peace, the mind of such a man is at peace, and his speech and action peaceful. He has no need for faith who knows the uncreated, who has cut off rebirth, who has destroyed any opportunity for good or evil, and cast away all desire. He is indeed the ultimate man"

I can't help but wonder that the key word BASIS is not explained very well in your Question, but the basis of my faith is the understanding of all of the truth that is around us and evident in every way and we are raised sociallyy away from the truth that was plain obvious and good before we knew anythiong different that someone else taught us.
