Would they leave Christianity. I mean...it is a rather stupid book.

The world would become the most amazingly changed place overnight. That is - if they not only read their Bibles but believed them and practiced its instructions and examples.

The Bible isn't a stupid book. It's a book stating the trials and accounts of Prophets, Scholars, and Jesus Christ himself. It also teaches each person about Life, and Lessons needed to overcome Life's many obstacles. Besides, if you called the Bible a stupid book, then you would have to call the Torah, and the Quaran stupid books as well... since all 3 are Holy texts.

Oh and to answer your other question: If all Christians read their Bibles, the world would be a much better place.

As a book, the Bible doesn't even make good fiction. There's no plot, no real order to the stories, and all the characters are utterly one-dimensional.

If Christians were to actually READ the Bible and not just swallow it whole, there'd be a lot more atheists out there.

It is rather hard to say. I find that most Christians on this board do not read the bible and they certainly don't read the writings of the same period.

It isn't a book to be taken literally.

They would understand that God is one God and his name is Jehovah (or Yahweh if you prefer to call Jesus Yeshua). They would also know that the trinity teaching had nothing to do with what was taught by Jesus--in fact, it began to be taught almost 400 years after he died. They would realize that hell is not a place of eternal torment but simply the common grave of mankind and that it will be done away with in the "lake of fire" after the 1,000 year reign of Christ. They would have love for all mankind even the ones who called the Bible a "stupid book."

I was a Christian. I read the Bible and I left Christianity because of it. If you want to know what would happen if everyone read their Bibles and believed them, then just look at the dark ages.

Well, the world would be a better place wouldn't it. Maybe there would be less xtians, maybe not, but if they walked their talk it would be an improvement. I would also like to see them be less ignorant about their own faith. They seem so content to be spoon fed from their leaders and shirk personal responsibility for themselves.

I can't call it a stupid book, as it has outlasted so many. It was written with just enough truth to be believable to those who are gullible and with just enough mystery and generalizations to confound the entire world. It is genius in a way, however I also believe it is the greatest lie that has ever been told. From its earliest inception it was a power play and continues to be so.

The Bible is a rather stupid book? Really? And on what research do you base your cretinous observation, despite the fact that the Bible is still the highest selling book? Why on earth would so many people buy a stupid book? Just doesn't make sense, does it? Go well, and God Bless!

I don't think it's a stupid book, and I'm not a Christian. I think the Jesus portrayed in Matthew is pretty cool. I don't like the one in Luke though, that's the one with the magical talking donkey. It has been said that the best cure for Christianity is a thorough reading of the bible though.

I used to be Christian and then I actually read the Bible. anyone with a conscience reading that book of wanton violence and sickening perversion would repent their belief in that nasty little desert deity and begin seeking Love and Truth within themselves. those who read the Bible choosing to ignore the evil contained therein are lacking something in basic goodness and/or intelligence.
