let amount of pleasure derived from a cigarette = y
and the number of nonÂsmokers in the vicinity = x
therefore: y = kx, where k = constant of proportionality.

I think it is commonly refered to as the "nana nana boo boo" factor. It is the same factor involved in fast food establishments where two patrons arriving at the same time will begin to walk faster in an effort to "beat the other guy to the punch" and get in line quicker.

I think your question is misplaced. It should be in another category not "Religion & Spirituality".
But, since it is here let me answer from the Biblical point of view. Biblical principles urges you not to smoke. Here is why?
1. Love your neighbor. When you give them cancer causing smoke, it is not love. Is it?
2. We must be clean in all aspect--morally, spiritually, even PHYSICALLY. ( 2Corin 7:1). Smoking not only makes you dirty. It makes you sick.
