Is love actually real or is it just lust?

Dear Ms. Libby, I don't have one answer for your quesiton because I think the answer varies according to the person(s.)
You probably know that for some lust is paramount for intimacy for a lot of people, but any informed person knows it doesn't last forever, at least not in its initial form. It may fade, re-emerge or for some, burn brightly for a long long time. I've never met someone in the last group, personally.
Affection, or being close is probably more important to long-term intimacy than lust. This is a relationship based on shared values, interests, respect, and basically, is the best friendship one can have in the world.
So is love real? It depends what you really need, and at what point you are in your life. In my life, I've always needed both, but the closeness above is more important to me.

Love is very real. It is so different from lust that you are knocked off your feet by it.
I did not realize it, but several times I had thought myself in love I was actually in lust. I even married thinking it was love. That marriage ended in divorce - due to the lack of true love in the relationship.
I have recently met a wonderful man and fell in love with him at first sight. The feelings are so overwhelming that I now understand the difference between love and lust. Love is so deep and does not judge. You feel love on so many levels that it takes your breath away. Lust is felt in your reproductive organs.

I believe in love. yes its true that at first its lust but in the long run it is love that keeps people together.and wen i say lust i don't mean that the other person has to be the hottest thing around,we as individuals lust, desire, many different things. from a cute face to a nice body. the body changes much more than the heart does. I would take a beautiful heart over a hot body any time.

I'd assume Lust is something that lasts for a little while. Love is a more permanent thing. And what you feel for your family and friends, is more than like, but defo not lust. So I think love pretty much describes it.
As for being in love, I suppose you could ask my mum n dad who've been married for 30 years since they were 19 and still get on like a house on fire.

love is definetly real. I love my husband but may not always like him. Love is harder than you think. Love is when you know someones faults and things that annoy you about him/her and you still love them. Lust has nothing to do with it. I am attracted to my husband definetly but not lust. If all you want out of a relationship is sex then yes that would be lust.

Hi there..Since u r pretty,it depends how,wen n to which extend a guy can love u..If some1 means u nt for long n gets attracted by u,it is lust coz ur beautiful..if a guy meets u,like u,respects u,helps u..den it can b love..it depends on th real situation u r in..Lust is pleasure to eyes,excitation in sexual organs wen u see sm1..love is not that...

first time is lust with the time long is love. 30 years of marriage every body lost the figure. they keep the love...your picture looks sexy to be real.

The feeling of love has been diagnosed...it is nothing more than gas.

I think its real when u find love the things you do for them or do with them is not just lust its sumthin stronger
