Goals never happening are not a problem. Not having goals is a big problem. Things change. Goals change. However, if you don't have goals set in the first place, you are just coasting and not creating your own destiny. Set goals. Reach them if they continue to be important; revise them if they are not.

It's not good to have goals, it's great. It's also important. You have a rare opportunity in this universe. You are a human being with all the potential and magnificence that entails. Writing your goals down is the first step toward making them happen. Never be afraid to take that step! True, your goals may change over time. So what? That's what growth is all about. Someday you can look at your early goals and smile. Why deprive yourself of that pleasure? Go for it! You'll never be bored as long as you have goals.

Yes it is good to have goals and even better to write them down.

I take vacation at the end of every year and write out all my goals for the new year (not resolutions). I am detailed as I can be and put different time frames to achieve.

Do I achieve them all, no but I got a lot closer. The mind is an amazing thing, once you write something down the brain will begin working to accomplish that aspect.

Also in many studies (my apologizes of not knowing the web sites) was that college students graduating from Harvard that had written goals approx 80% achieved their intended results after 10 years of being out of school.

Think of goals as a dart board if you want to hit the bullseye you have to see the bullseye. You might not hit it but you will definitely get closer.

Also just because you write your goals does not mean you have to share them - their personal. I am have been married a long time and my husband does not know all of my goals.

Good luck and keep trying

I'm actually writing a book about setting goals and knowing how to carry through with them.

It's perfectly normal to write goals. And it's perfectly normal to have them, too.

Without goals, what else do you have? Just a dream? Just a thought? Just an idea?

If you can live with that, well, that's your own damn fault.

But if you would much rather enjoy laying in your favorite couch in the house of your dreams, for example, (instead of simply thinking about it), then having the goal and knowing how to pursue it, and pursuing it, will be worth it.

So it's up to you and what you would be happy with having - either dreams.

Or the real thing. And only goals will get you to the real thing.

Write down your goals, but also write down how you are going to achieve them. Anyone can have goals, but unless you've thought about how those goals will be turned into reality you're not going to get anywhere. So yes, it is great to have goals, as long as you have a plan of action.

Having goals is a good thing thats when you start pondering about reaching there. There is no success in life without goal-setting & planning. Some people are successful by luck but thats not gauranteed in your case. So set your goals on paper and plan your activities accordingly. Who knows you might even achieve more than what you planned for. Cheers!

a myriad of successful people believe that writing down your goals is a highly rewarded effort. Making realistic goals..short term obtainable goals..nailing those..taking your objectives to the next level..utilizing patience hard work, wisdom and insight...not getting discouraged if immediate results are not achieved..and evolving those into long term goals...when one takes an abstract idea, goal or objective and writes it down. It become something tangible..concrete, this action begets a transformational process..visualization of your goals..focus, positive thinking and affirming these goals with statements of your progress ability to achieve and objective obtainment...often brings them into fruition.

Write them down. I did it when I finished college education. My last entry was to be a millionaire at 30.

It didn't happen but I'm still fine, and going good.
