Are her front teeth discolored? Grayish? If so she may of traumatized it and by falling or bumping her mouth even up to six months ago, it could be an abscess or a new tooth. Have DDS check it.

Sometimes when a baby tooth is starting to come out, it will actually get a little abscess. This is not anything to be really concerned about, if that's what it is. It will go away as soon as the tooth comes out.

Yes, it could also be the permanent tooth showing through the gum a little bit, but I kinda think the asker would figure that one out...

may be a canine tooth coming out! i had 2 both sides of my top middle teeth, and it actually happens quite often. if it doesn't look like that give it a bit of time (week mabye 2 or 3) then go to the doctor- see how it will develop first

It sounds like the adult tooth is coming in above it. I would be inclined to encourage the baby tooth to leave and allow the adult tooth to come in right.
