Yes, you can believe in God and not choose to follow a religion. Organized religion is a totally different animal. It seems that people choose the religion that best suits their lifestyle and do things in the name of God, when we know it's all a bunch of bull.

all religions in christianity have basicly the same word of god. there are differences the good news, basic rendition , new international version a bit old now but quite good, the king james written in old english so hard to understand. many others, my favorite is the living study bible which is very imformative. basically i mention bibles as part of you answer because the different branches of christian religion should be following the word of the bible. if they dont there is something wrong with that church so get out. you can read in the intro pages of the bible how that version was written and all the imformation needed to help you decide whether the process that they took makes you trust its interpretation. i cant speak for other religions, but i go for the one where gods son suffered horrifically and remained humble.
i can relate to suffering so i chose a god whom also suffered to save our butts. and is not greedy selfish or has an ulterior motive to everything. i hope all the best, pray to god that he shows you the way. and be careful satan mascarades as a angel of light, thats why there is so many different religions. to confuse the truth.

Anybody can believe in anything. Yes you can believe in God and not have a religion. The real question is, can you have a relationship with God and not have religion, or as I would say, not belong to Jesus, and a local congregation which worships and teaches the Word of God, then spreads the good news? No!

Yes but you will be influenced by the near and dear ones religion. I doubt you will start accepting a religion if you believe in God. Think if a Muslim lives with 1000's of christian in place with no hatred, and doe snot meet/speak/share any other Muslim definitely he will be influenced by the Christianity... Religion is contagious. I doubt one can believe in God and still not follow a religion ( at least influenced by a mixture of religious beliefs ).

Great question and one that I faced about a year ago.

Yes, you can believe in a Supreme Being and not ascribe to any religion. Because what are different religious sects than somebody else's interpretation of the law?

Bah! I'd rather make my own path than do what someone else says I should do.

Now to answer your question of what religion is better. You need to decide that for yourself... burn your own spiritual trail. Look at all sides of the equation.

Good luck to ya'!

As to the last question, yes, I agree.

None of them have Gods Housekeeping Seal of Approval, so which one "wins".

As to belief in a deity, I don;t know how you can believe in a god, but not follow a religion. I just have a hard time with that concept

No, as a part of taking in accurate knowledge of the Bible requires help.

Whose to say one religion is better than another? Christ did. He said there would be many who claim to speak in his name. Finding the right religion involves find one that doesn't delve into rituals and observance of man, as the Apostle Paul said. It involves knowing that you can go from one congregation to another, anywhere on the planet, and find that agree on everything.

All active members of the church should be ministers, as Christ said to teach people the Bible, and how to preach and teach the Bible. You should be able to ask a 12-year-old child in the congregation something simply, like what is the first prophesy of the Bible, and they not only know it, but can quote it.

No one should get paid to serve God and Christ, as everyone is qualified to preach and teach.

Believe in God and keep doing good things. Your religion will be the one you feel like trusting.

Believe whatever is in your heart. You do not need to pic a religion. Follow what your heart tells you, you don't need a religion to believe in god.
