I recently recieved an e-mail with about half a dozen newspaper clippings saying that talking on a cellular phone while it is charging can be hazardous to the brain and can lead to cancer. Is this true?It is the first time I have heard anything like this but i & a lot of people I know do it all the time.So I'm pretty worried. Some help would be much appreciated.

This is highly unlikely since the current from your charger to the mobile phone is DC (direct current). Apart from a tiny, non fluctuating, electromagnetic field associated with the (very small) charging current flowing through the lead, there is no radiation (i.e. high frequency radio transmission) of the type some people think is associated with possible brain damage.

[I suppose that it is theoretically possible for slight re radiation to occur in the charger lead through some sort of induction, but I doubt whether this would be of any significance.]

There's too much worrying about mobile telephone transmissions these days. I wonder how many people worry about living near TV masts, where the high frequency transmissions are measured in kW (= thousands of watts) as opposed to the few mW (= thousandths of a watt) of mobile telephones?

If you are particularly worried, the answer is not to do what some teenagers seem to be doing these days - which is to have a mobile phone glued to their ears for hours at a time.

Try texting more and speaking less!

People will say anything...but you could research this on google or yahoo and see if in fact it is the truth, and not just a sales pitch..http://consumeraffairs.com/cell_phones/cell_phones.htm this might help you.
