Withdrawel symptoms are natual when stopping a drug like xanax. If you do get some withdrawel symptoms that means you should stick at the dose you are at currently and wait for the anxiety to lessen before continuing to decrease the dose.

(Example: If you are on 2mg of Xanax and you go down and you get more anxious at 1mg, stick at the 1mg for about a week until the anxiety decreases. Then continue to work on getting of the Xanax from there) Good luck...

If you are weaning properly you shold not experience much withdrawl. Look for some new ways to cope. I know that this sounds crazy but when I was going through this my friend gave me a small stone about a half inch arround. And had told me when I was getting edgy to put it in my shoe. I am telling you it sounds crzy but walk a little with that stne in your shoe. You will be distracted from the withdrawl symptoms

I have found soma [carisiprodol-sp?] to be of help. if needed from time to time clonapin or dalmane but only for the heeby-jeebies. Soma alone can often do the transition and soma never caused any withdrawl hassle for me. good luck Jaya Hari bolo! That is an ancient prayer meaning spiritual victory by the Supreme Spirit that takes away all but the means to enter the kingdom of God. ps.epsom salts hot bath, calming music and an appropriate book to feed transcendence to your intelligence thus giving the mind shelter for the "itch" of the body.

How regularly did you take it? It seems like an interim PRN would be provided. If you aren't on a daily therapy like Paxil, Lexapro or Effexor (which I doubt, but I had to throw it in), it would quell a lot of that.

I like to carry a little vial of lavender oil. The scent is really intoxicating. It's used in a lot of calm/meditation and addiction soothing techniques, and it comforts me. When I really can't cope, I focus on my work, and if I'm at home, I lay down in bed. Having a benadryl and napping it off is the best thing when my stomach is in knots.

To breakaway from Xanax , just change the daily routine. If you are taking 1mg in the morning and 1mg at bedtime . Take it in the morning and at 2:00 PM.. for one week . Then start reducing to half the doze... That should do it. It worked for me..

YES. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO SUCCESSFULLY WITHDRAW FROM XANAX AND THAT IS TO CHECK YOURSELF INTO A DRUG CLINIC FOR AT LEAST 30 DAYS.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT YOU CANNOT DO ALONE. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL NEVER - AND I MEAN NEVER - GET OFF THE DRUG SUCCESSFULLY. YOU NEED THE HELP OF PROFESSIONALS,

THE ANXIETY AND THE RACING HEART CAN BE DETRIMENTAL TO YOU HEALTH. NOT TO MENTION YOU MIGHT EVEN HAVE A HEART ATTACK. ARE YOU READY FOR THAT? I DIDN'T THINK SO.

CHECK YOURSELF INTO A CLINIC AND LET THE PROFESSIONALS TAKE OVER. IT'S NOT THAT BAD. JUST THINK OF ALL OF THE CELEBRITIES THAT HAVE GONE THERE. DON'T BE SCARED - JUST DO IT!

GOOD LUCK!! BARBARA.

You did not tell me howmuch you were taking and howlong you took it. Any way I will give you an idea.

Xanax is a short acting benzodiazapine. First switch to a long acting benzodiazapine like valium and taper off.

Try something like yoga or meditation, it can be very useful with coping with anxiety.

Withdraw from it EXTREMELY slow...that is how i did it...halfing the dose everyday..then quarters..then sixteenths...very very slow and had no side effects in the end.
