The guy I've been seeing for 4 months now and finally had the 'talk'. He said that he wasn't looking for a 'very serious relationship' but that I couldn't get him wrong--he 'loves hanging out with me and spending time with me.' He said that he would have issues if I were to be seeing other people, and that if I were to have sex with someone else, he wouldn't like that at all, and we'd have to talk. I agreed that we won't have a serious relationship, because the chances that I will moving away within the next year from this city is high, and I didn't need for him to be factor in my decision making. After the 'talk' I dreaded and hesitated to have, he changed into a mr. boyfriend. Obviously, though, from the talk, we're not serious, and I got the impression that we were not bf/gf. But I've caught him staring at me lying next to me in bed, and woken up in the middle of the night from him kissing my neck. But sex didn't follow, like in the past.

When I got the news that my long-lost friend had passed away, and I was upset, he was incredibly sweet. Can guys do this? Can guys 'be in a relationship' but not--at the same time and be comfortable with this?? Will he say, "be my girlfriend?" EVER? There is definitely a part of me that is hoping for that in the next couple of months... but I need to know... can guys be in this kind of relationship, FOREVER?

WOW.... ok.

There could be many reasons why he is saying this to you. He doesn't want a serious relationship but yet, he doesn't want you dating other people. What about him? is he dating other girls?

By telling you he doesn't want a serious relationship might simply mean.... no living together... no engagements... no marriage...he might not be into the 'commitment' part of it.

or.......

He could be falling in love with you and hes scared. Do you know if he has had a bad relationship in the past?

The ball is really in your court. What do you want?

Some guys find it hard to commit. My best friend has been in your situation for 2 years now! He wants her under his conditions only. If you go out together on 'dates', hold hands in public, meet each other's friends etc. then I'd have to say that you were gf/bf. Cos 'fu*k buddies' don't do that. They just want sex... Just give him a bit of time to adjust. Maybe he's been hurt in the past and is protecting himself. Maybe he thinks expectations will be too high if he's an official 'bf'.

First you need to determine what you want. At first you didn't want him as your boyfriend because you might be moving. Has that changed? It is possible that he loves you but he is not ready to admit to it, plus he is afraid of commitment. You know what they say action speaks louder than words. Do you feel love? Enjoy the ride and see where it leads. A lot could happen in a year and then you might decide not to leave town.

you are going to be the "friend with benefits". Tell him what you want in this situation, i guess you want to be in a committed relationship. Just dump him, u deserve better. I used to have a friend like that and he told me that he doesn't want a relationship. he just want a casual sex, someone to hang out. And I said Im not that kind of person even though if he is cute, rich and nice. You have to give boundaries and respect for yourself. Goodluck!

Well it sounds like u don't really know what u wont. You say u dont' wont a serious relationship. But then u say u hope he askes u. So I don't know what to tell u. Sounds like the guy is really into u and he'd like to take it to the next step. But ur stopping him by saying u dont' wont nothing serious. So ur sending him mixed singals. U need to sit down and figure out what u wont. And then tell him.

I really find this unfair. He doesn't want to be in a serious relationship but you can't date other people? Try telling him do you want to be with me or not? Beacuse I could be dating other people. And your not gonna be in charge of my life decisions.

Hope it works out for you!

Is he dating other people? If so dump him!

If not than I would think that he is falling head over heals for you and is too shy to admit it!!! : )
