A pioneer works to discover new land and establish a formal government... an illegal alien just mooches off other people who have already discovered a new land.

Semantics. To the original inhabitants pioneers were invaders. Not all the land was bought and paid for.

Interestingly enough, the pioneers were Christian and it is evident that at least some of those pioneers were trying to do things right by trading beads for land. Very commendable. Now the descendants of those Christians seem to forget:

Exodus 22; 20:

“You shall not molest or oppress an alien, for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.”

the pioneer discovers new/unconquered territory. Like with lewis and clark in the louisiana territory. They explored it after the US bought the land. An illegal alien is someone who comes into territory against the law. Like another explorer of the US-zebulin pike (spelling?). He also explored the future US, but when he got into Mexican territory he was arrested!
