That is because science is based on facts. It is indisputable truth. Religion on the other hand is based primarily on faith. You are right, we can all find lies in the religious texts, those lies are usually from all the translations it went through for the thousands of years but nevertheless it is misconstruing information. The only way to find the "truth" is to follow what your heart and soul believe. What stands out and makes the most sense to you. Is it Jesus, Siddhartha, the Islam, atheism, etc. There is no right or wrong in my opinion. I think as long as we strive to be better people and help our fellow man there is something better in the afterlife.

Everyone began in one general location on the planet.
Events caused migration.
As people got away from their origins, they changed.
According to ancient historian Berosus, several nations deified kings, patriarchs, and matriarchs.
Ancient writers have said the following:
Noah = Ogyges Saga, Olybarma, Arsa, Janus, Shu, Uranus, Ouranos, Xisuthrus, Deucalion
Noah's wife = Naamah, Gaia, Tytea, Emzara
Japheth = Iapetus
Ham = Kronus, Cham
Shem(Melchizedek) and his other brothers = Titans
Mizraim = son of Ham, Osiris, Jupiter, Zeus
Lehabim = Hercules, Heracles, Heryshaf, Lybidicus, Lybicus
Nimrod = grandson of Ham, Ur-Nammu, Hammurabi, Ra, Amraphel, Gilgamesh, Izdubar, Gishdubar, Namra Udu, Amar Ud, Marduk, Bel, mrd, Marad
Isis = Io
Ancient writers also list the burial place of Zeus and Hercules. I forget where they say Zeus was buried but they say Hercules was buried in Spain.
So, it would seem that religions are distortions of the original.
If evidence is correct, Judaism and Christianity are close to the original.
I forgot to say that the Norse's Alfadur hasn't always been synonymous with Oden. The oldest sources make a distinction between the two. Alfadur = All Father. He was a being higher that Oden who was a deified king.
There is alot of forgotten history that can be found among the ancient writers.
This sort of info can also be traced in ancient Oriental materials.

There are rules that govern the universe this is true. Who made them? Science has concluded that the universe had a begining.
Just like science has its own set of rules, truth has its own set of rules as well and they are not much different than those that govern science.
If you are looking for a "religion" to follow that is fine and well. Religion is mans attempt to work himself toward the direction of God. If however you are looking for a relationship with your creator the work has already been done for you in the person of Jesus Christ.
Truth claims must not violate the law of non-contradiction. Truth must be true to Scripture, true to Life and true to Reason.
I would suggest you read the Bible and accompany that with some good presuppositional apologetics.
Try these: The Spiritual Man by Watchman Nee
Mere Christianity by CS Lewiis
The God Who Is There by Francis Schaeffer
Can Man Live Without God by Ravi Zacharais
Total Truth by Nancy Pearcy
Stay away from preachers that tell you Gods plan is for you to get rich and that suffering is not a part of spiritual experience.

Hi pretty. Very deep question. Thank you. I would encourage you not to make the mistake many people do of comparing science and religion as though they were supposed to be the same thing. This is not a contest. Both science and religion are expressions of the human desire to understand. They are extensions of our endless curiosity as the human race. Science looks at the material world. Religion looks at the intangible reality. We should embrace them both. Religion does seem to have contradictions, but so does science. In fact, when things don't seem to make sense is when scientists get the most excited. Those places where the data doesn't seem to agree is where the creativity occurs and breakthroughs happen. Ironically, in religion, people don't want to allow that. They point to places where religion is unsure or contradictory and claim that it must all be false. Not a very scientific thing to do. We should explore where we differ in our faith traditions or are uncertain, helping one another to reveal even deeper truths than we have ever known before.

Are you sure water boils at 100c? Does it always freeze as 0c? Trying doing both with pure water, no additives or pollutants like chlorinate. Don't put a spoon or anything in the heated water, otherwise you will really see it boil.
We see a lot of difference because Christ said it would happen. He said many will claim to speak in his name. People started drifting away from his teaching all the way back in the time of the Apostle Paul, who said he had worked for nothing, because they had returned to rituals, observances, and holidays of men. There is only one complete truth. You can't have just part of a truth, God doesn't see fence riders. You are either on one side or the other.

How can you find the truth in religion? In the 1st place would you accept the truth if it is presented to you--or would you be blinded by your prejudice? This is crucial. No matter how convincing a proof is given to people, they won't believe because of "mental blinders".
If you are prepared, then consider these examples ( not exhaustive):
1. Jesus said that God's Word--the Bible is truth.
2. The Bible says that true christians are no part of this world. Meaning? They avoid the immorality, greed, and other God dishonoring beliefs and practices. As well, they are neutral in all political issues because Jesus said that his Kingdom is no part of this world.
3. True Christians love one another. For example they do not join wars.
4. True Christians are hated--not loved--by this world. In fact, their leader, Jesus, was hated by the world.
Are you prepared to accept these truth? Are you prepared to find who the true Christians are today?

"How can I find what the real truths of the Universe are?" is the centrel question of all religion and philosophy and you won't find it on Yahoo! Answers. The best advice I can give you is take everything with a grain of salt and assess it for yourself. You have to find your own truths, the most others can do is point you in the right direction.

Ahum, water boils at different temperatures depending on altitude.
All scientific theories that hasn't been proven goes through the same thing as religion. Differences, beliefs and dis-beliefs.
If you want the truth you have to look to solid facts and not theories, and you have to accept that we don't know the answers to everything... yet.

the only truth is what you believe and depends on your experiences. I can't believe in witches because I haven't seen any but I believe in angels because I saw a few of them and talked to them. It sounds crazy but it's true. God is seen in many ways with different names. Pray and check what happens. Believe in your God. Every religion has its own mistakes, too. Just keep believing that there is always a God for you. and if you want to, keep going to church or doing some things you like from your religion. He still listens to you.

Now a day you can't find truth and honesty in religions. Using religion is the most successful business in the world. The meaning of religion itself is power and money. But anyway GOD is there..... No doubt at all. He doesn’t have specific name and religion. So believe in the god and not in the religion..
