New Zealand has banned all nuclear armed vessels from visiting. That's one example. Saudi Arabia allowed US bases in the country for the first Iraq war, then kicked the US out. If you're a weak and despotic government, you'll allow the US in because then you can continue to oppress your people, but if you're freedom loving, you'd rather the US left and take their missiles with them. But as you may have learned from the recent visit of the Pakistani president, the US told him that if he didn't cooperate, the US would bomb his country back into the stone age, so countries may cooperate because the US threatens them, not because they want to. In short, the US is the world's bully, and it threatens everyone with destruction if they don't fall into line. You think people would "like" that?

When American bases are first established it is normally to protect that country as well as the interests of democracy and the United States. When that country passes a few generations and nothing goes wrong, normally because of the base, that country wants the base out. So other countries, like France, quickly forget what the United States has done for them in the past.

Ask the people of the Phillipines .
Their government Said Leave , America left and their economy CRASHED . Thousands of jobs , just gone
The bases and troops were the economy .
Myself , I'd Close most overseas bases and bring the jobs and money stateside .
The Soviet Union is gone so we could easily leave places like Germany .
A few Divisions on the Mexican Border maybe ?

Most countries adore American bases in their country for protection and the love of Americans, can't be denied. Also, Americans are a good contributor to the economy of where the bases reside.

No sane person likes war!
No country wants to be hit by a surprise attack.
Therefore I appreciate the fact that we have American military basis close by.
The only way to have freedom in a country is to have a good system of defence ready to go.
Take care!

How would desire to our bosses run an oppressive international empire in the event that they did not have a super protection rigidity? And the place in the decaying civilian economic gadget would desire to all of those human beings be positioned to artwork? And in the event that they weren't in the protection rigidity, and that they did not produce different jobs, would not there be chaos in the streets, and a mass stream against our vendors? Gotta ward off THAT! .

The bases are good, it takes getting used to the sound of freedom sometimes tho. The nukes are bulleyes to the Russian and Chinese weapons officers, but better to be vaporized in WWIII then live in the aftermath.

No.. We don't....
I am Egyptian ( Arab country )..
Most of arab countries suffer from the prescence of American military bases...
One of the reasons of the Gulf war ( 1990 ) was the prescence of military bases in Kuait..
Mostly the reason that no arab country was against the Iraq war was the prescence of American military bases in these countries except for : Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Iran...

Most US military bases in foreign countries were for the world securities as well the countries' own safeties and generally welcome by the people, while a small portion of leftist or political activists might oppose.
