i dont think it should as martial arts is in you
and science only looks at the outer body it cant measure the energy one person has or it cant identify a chi

that's not true, I saw a show that used science to measure the power and energy of people doing martial arts and it was able to show others how they can improve on their power by what they learned about how the energy flowed through the body to allow people to better their martial arts. It did not try to change martial arts, instead it just showed why the martial arts work. I like the martial arts, but i do not believe in the "spiritual" side of it so the scientific points helped me.1

Martial arts should be heavily influenced by science.
Physics and biology are a large part of the arts. You punch someone in the solar plexus because it contains the zyphiod process which attaches the diaphragm. Science.
When you triangle choke someone you are creating a simple machine out of your own body ( a vice). You must come to understand how joints work, how leverage works, how breathing works.
Chi- please do not focus too much on it. It is an area of great controversy. I feel chi or ki is a matter of faith. There is something to be said for a person inner spirit, it drives you and keeps you thinking positive. Outer ki is a just physics. As far as chi/ki being a magical force. Do not put stock into that.

i think it depends. it could help in ways to preserve the way it's physically done by recording how every muscle and bone structure of the master was moved, however i don't think they could improve too much of it.

the problem is see is that only part science can help with is the power generation. how to use your weight better and all is good, but when you fight need to use your skill of faints and deception to fool the enemy into an opening. and by using the science to only concentrate on the power might change our form in a slight way we did not notice and that might give off what our attack would be to our opponents way ahead of time.

i think the masters built the techniques they did, because they worked in terms of power and in terms of influencing the opponents to react a certain way and we might lose that. and if MA becomes who has the stronger punch than who has the stronger skill then MA becomes nothing but training for a bar fights. (nothing against bar fight ^^)

CHI is a magical force that is made up. Theres no such thing as punching or throwing your opponents with CHI alone. We are humans not jedis.

I think the REAL chi is your attitude and spirit. If you can control your opponent's thinking and make him lose mentally, you win.

are you kidding me?

a lot of martial arts is human biomechanics..

the use of the arm bar in jiu jitsu is the use of lever arms -- therefore physics

the study of the force of punches and kicks is also science

and the motions of the joints of the body is kinesiology

i cant believe how some people are supremely narrow minded
