when I took the stand to testify, they had me swear on a Bible. Now, being agnostic, I wonder if they offer an alternative that we actually respect or if we are expected to swear on something that we don't believe in? Anyone know?

I should note, that was about twenty years ago, and I am just curious. I am not on my way to court or anything.

I believe now that they ask you to swear or affirm to tell the truth just by raising your hand. I hope this helps.

Now a days because of all of the religions out there they do offer alternatives. But of course they have just introduced this new one. You raise your right hand and place your left hand on a piece of paper that reads "Mom's life". This ones for the athiests and such

You don't have to swear on the bible anymore. It isn't forced on us like it was years ago . People are wiser now

I don't think they do that anymore.
Don't you just hold up your hand and swear to tell the truth?

I hope so but I truly do not know as I have never been to court.It would of course make sense.
