I have a 6 week old newborn so have been keeping my dogs outside, and just wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to be to cold for them. My two labs are about 8 months old.

Would you leave your kids outside when it is cold?
BRING THEM INTO THE HOUSE

Depends where you live. I live in Buffalo, NY and there is no way I could safely keep my dogs outside in the cold. During the winter their paws get frost bite if they are out for more than 5 minutes on the cold days. I also have a Lab and there is no way I would leave him out in our weather. If the water you are leaving is freezing you know you got a problem. Its okay to leave them out for some time in decent weather but look at this way would you be okay out in the weather?

the weather man usually tells us when its 2 cold 2 leave animals out.. 10 or 15 degrees is cold.. they need shelter.. dog house big enough 4 two.. straw 4 bedding.. food and fresh water everyday.. if you can leave the garage door open a little 4 them 2 get inside.. that helps too.. yes they are old enough 2 stay outside.. the problem i see with that is that they won't get the attention they also need and want from families..

Labs swim in winter water, they will be fine, just bring them in at night or provide shelter from the wind if it gets way below freezing. Make sure they are fed well, it helps keep them warm. A bundle of straw makes good bedding, and it can be raked up and burned in the spring.

It depends on where you live. If they have some kind of shelter outside they should be okay, but if the temperature gets dangerously cold maybe you could keep them in the garage.
They have fur, but extremes can still hurt them.

This of course depends a bit on where you live. I live in Queensland Australia and in winter it hardly gets cold at all. But if you live in Iceland it might be too cold
