Life is an amazing journey,
With excitement at every turn.
There is so much to see, to do
So many things we must learn.
I cannot see what's before me
Left or right is mine to choose.
There may be a Minotaur guarding it
The prize is mine to win or lose.
So much beauty surrounds us
That we seldom look and see.
From now on I will take the time
I will walk the pace right for me.
Others may hurry past me,
I shall not impede the flow
But I will take time to live this life
Before time comes for me to go.
The rat race does not need me.
And I do not want to be a part,
I will walk and smell the flowers
And treasure them in my heart

Yes I wrote this recently when I made a few life changing decisions. I too decided to slow down.

Honestly I think the poem is wonderful with the exception of the line The rat race does not need me. That line sounds harsh and doesn't flow smoothly like the rest of the words in the poem. Maybe replace it with something more specific but softer sounding.

good poem.....we (the world) are much too caught up in everything except what we should be caught up in : God and his Creation. It is not until tragedy strikes (the death of a loved one or a world tragedy) that we slow down and realize what is really important in this life. I look around me at all the shopping centers, office buildings and new neighborhoods that are quickly blocking my view of a once beautiful meadow or rolling hills and I see that people call this progress but is it really?

In praise of power of love,
Compassionate to all, and to the one,
Merging with the guidance,
Master of know how,
Follow the knowledge, and be assisted,
Leading to the shortest path,
Path of those who appreciate life !

its ok
i like what it is about but i like metaphoric poems much more
that one was very straight forward in words
i like the ones that make me think-make me wonder--is that what the writer meant--or is this it
