I have a three year old daughter that has eczema. I've tried almost every product you can name. Elidel, hyrdocortizone, freederm, you name it, we've tried it. Nothing seems to help. She no longer itches the way that she used to, but the rashes are still there and itch occassionally. I know there's no cure, but I just need something that is going to give her some relief.

We have been to doctors and doctors and doctors. We are just wasting time and money. Every cream they given her doesn't work. She has been diagnosed with eczema and I just looking for some other type of relief for her. That's why I am on this site! Thank you very much!

Okay, I also have eczema, and was really frustrated because nothing, including the doctor's prescription, wasn't working. A lady in Wal-Mart told me "she" uses a cream called "UDDERLY SMOOTH." The tube of this cream is less than $2.00, and the jar is only about $4.00.
I decided to try it out, and haven't used anything else since. One thing to remember about eczema. When you apply any kind of cream, put it on and rub it in going ONLY one direction. Because by rubbing "both" directions, for whatever reason, it causes the eczema to
spread! Udderly smooth is not a cure, but it works better than anything "I've" used so far. Think about it, they use this cream on cow udders to keep them from chapping and getting sores, so it makes sense. Good luck.

My daughter has Eczema also. It has been a long hard fight, and now I think she's finally growing out of it (Fingers Crossed). I found that things that worked, would only work for a little while and her skin kind of became immune to the med. Elidel worked for a while, Protopic worked for a while.

I quit using all those when they came out and said they were found to cause Cancer. So I bought Aveeno oatmeal bath and let her soak in that. I bought Dove shampoo and bodywash for her and Dove lotion. I was her clothes in "free" soaps, bedding too.

It's hard. My daughter is almost 5, and like yours, her itching isn't real bad. She has the rashes, now confined to her legs only. Now I'm dealing with her picking at her scabs. UGH! Her legs look rough, the poor thing.

I suggest the Dove line. Nothing worked quite so well as that. And maybe get some Benadryl for the times that she is itching. (that was dr. recommended to me)

And for the person that suggested the dermatologist, Elidel is a prescription med. You can't get that OTC by self diagnosing.

My little boy had eczema on his cheeks. I was not sure what method to use but I didn't want to make my boy go through any surgery treatments at this young age. Some suggested a plastic surgeon since it was in a very visible location but our family doctor recommend this natural guide.

I agree with the answer to see the specialist. I have been suffering with atopic dermititis for years now and the last doctor I saw finally gave me a topical steroid that seems to keep the "rashes" at bay if you catch them right away. For the really bad ones I got steroid shots and they haven't been back since. Good luck

my suggestion would be to see a dermatologist.. over the counter stuff, may not be enough.
Assisting in self-diagnosis is not the purpose of this website. People with chronic forms of dermatitis or skin inflammation should have these conditions diagnosed by a physician. There are numerous types of skin diseases with manifestations similar to eczema, but they may be caused by allergies, bacteria, fungus, virus, etc. and in many cases, once diagnosed correctly these conditions can be treated effectively. This website is for people who have been diagnosed with eczema and seek alternate forms of relief and control, with no side effects. SEE BELOW
