Can anyone tell me if it is possible to freeze bread dough? If it is possible do you freeze it before it has been allowed to rise or once it has risen. Thanks

Place bread dough in a pan inside of a well-sealed plastic bag. Freeze overnight and then remove from pan to be wrapped in plastic and placed inside of a well-sealed bag, only to go back to the freezer.

If freezing bread rolls or individual shapes, first freeze on a cookie sheet so they won't stick together when placed with others in a plastic bag. Freeze for about an hour or until hard. Then put frozen rolls directly in an airtight bag to go back into the freezer.

Yes you can freeze it. You should freeze it however before you let it rise. you want it to do the rising when you get ready to bake it, that is the yeast activating. I also recommend that you freeze it overnight in a pan or on a cookie tray in the size that you want, and then take it back out, and right away wrap it in Saran wrap, and then place it in a freezer bag. When you are ready to use it, take it out and let it defrost, and then knead it some, and allow it to rise, and it is ready to bake. This is also what I do to save wedding cakes and cookies.

YES, You can freeze it. 2 ways to do it! You can actually buy frozen prepackaged dough in the store now. But it's not good as homemade! Make our dough as usual, just leave it in a ball, oil it & wrap it up in saran wrap it will be fine. You could also make soft dough balls, oil them good, spread them out on a cookie sheet immediately before they rise, and freeze them Once they are frozen hard in a few hours, drop them in a zip-lock . Then you could take out as many as you want. let them rise and bake!!!! . I do pie crust dough like that alot.

When we lived in the USA it was possible to buy frozen, uncooked bread from the supermarket. I assume that it has already risen because I can't remember it getting any bigger whilst cooking. Hope this helps.
